Captain Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso has enacted a law which shocked the World where thieves, instead of being imprisoned, must perform government or national development work until they repay what they stole.
Traore states this policy turns theft into debt repayment, helping build the nation and improving the economy.
BREAKING NEWS: Saturday afternoon, notorious armed bandits leader Kachalla Dan Sa’adiyya, enforced tax levy of ₦50 million to be paid within one week to Gama Giwa community and nearby communities of Maradun LGA in Zamfara State.
Villagers say this comes on top of months of forced labour on his farms, where locals were compelled to work throughout the rainy season without payment. After completing the harvest, they expected relief, but instead, they now face what community members describe as another round of harsh economic pressure and intimidation.
Residents explain that the combination of unpaid labour and the newly imposed levy has pushed families into deeper fear and hardship. They say they feel trapped in a system where an armed bandit controls their livelihoods, mobility and even the outcome of their farming season.
Residents continue to pray and hope for a future where their safety, dignity and economic survival are no longer dictated by coercion.
And the question that now echoes across the communities in Zamfara State is: How did bandit warlords evolve into de-facto revenue agencies in parts of our nation?
Below are the photos of Kachalla Dan Sa’adiyya
@NigeriaStories The existence of Shariah courts in Nigeria alone is a violation of the Constitution of Nigeria. We are not an Islamic state shariah law should never have existed in the first place. So many misplaced priorities
Nigeria should have long been cited as a Country of Concern for its persistent failure to protect its citizens.
At every level, the state has failed to safeguard the vulnerable Christians, Muslims, and traditional believers alike; children, women, students, workers, and the elderly have all suffered under the weight of corruption and illegitimate leadership.
I recognize the pain of the Christian communities in Benue, Plateau, Gombe, and Kaduna, who continue to face relentless attacks, just as the Muslim populations in Katsina, Zamfara, Borno, and Yobe also need protection from marauding killers. Across the nation, Nigerians whipped by hunger, poverty, and displacement cry out for safety and dignity.
While international attention or special designations might bring temporary relief to some communities, the real solution lies within honest, courageous leadership that values human life and justice above politics.
Nigerians must understand that the true solution lies in real leadership, not in outside help.
No foreign power can fix what corrupt and careless leaders have broken from within.
Our redemption will come from visionary, accountable, and people-centered leadership, one that protects its citizens, unites its people, and rebuilds the nation from the ground up.#RevolutionNow
We Are Finished!
I join millions of Nigerians in wishing Her Excellency, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, a happy birthday. May God Almighty, who has been with her all these years, grant her many more healthy, fruitful, and happy years.
However, I was struck by irony reading her request: that instead of cakes or newspaper adverts, well-wishers should donate toward completing the National Library in Abuja. On the surface, it is noble and selfless. But beneath it lies an indictment of our nation.
I recall that, as Governor of Anambra State, I too urged that money meant for adverts be channelled into meaningful causes—computers for schools and classroom blocks. Such gestures were never meant to replace the government’s duty but to complement it. The state still bore the responsibility of providing those essentials. That is why it is shocking that, in our present circumstances, while billions are easily found for jets, yachts, unused mansions, endless trips abroad, and other frivolities, the nation must rely on birthday donations to complete its own National Library.
What kind of country must beg for charity to build the very temple of knowledge? What kind of leaders waste trillions on luxury and vanity, while the National Library - our intellectual furnace - remains abandoned in the capital? Serious nations treat libraries as sacred; but here we reduce them to afterthoughts, begging bowls, or birthday tokens.
Mrs Tinubu was right: education is the most enduring legacy a nation can give its people. Yet to know this truth and still prioritise vanity is both shocking and tragic.
If Nigeria will rise, it will not be on the wings of jets or the splendour of mansions, but on the strength of minds formed in classrooms and nourished in libraries. Until then, the lament remains true—we are finished. -PO
