I would prefer that men didn't yell anything at me from moving vehicles but if it's going to happen "Pretty dress!" is about as acceptable as it gets. Though the most flawless execution of this strategy is still several years ago when someone (correctly) yelled "PRABAL GURUNG!"
When I adopted Chili, the animal shelter volunteer really wanted to be sure that I knew she wouldn't be particularly affectionate and definitely was not going to be a lap cat. Five and a half years later...
@tungwene I mean not having much height difference is cool if you share a car but why do people care so much?! The only difference I've noticed having dated a range is that some people are very critical of my choice to wear heels when my partner is a dude and around my height or smaller.
@Proof_by That is a more compelling explanation for why 5 out of 6 of my instacart shoppers are unable to locate any form of diet soda regardless of which store.
I've been baffled that tech companies don't specifically seek out librarians for content moderation. We're trained to do EXACTLY what they say they want, preserving freedom of information while preventing abuse. We don't always get it right either, but we've got a head start.
"Truth needs an advocate and it should come in the form of an enormous flock of librarians descending on Silicon Valley to create the internet we deserve, an information ecosystem that serves the people." https://t.co/2VDSk6BhsB
@VivintHome they pushed their way into my home at the first opportunity. Again, maskless, and left without providing a card or any other way for me to identify them.
@fugu13 Y I K E S. I might try to walk by there (from a distance wearing a mask) and see if they got reported to the health department yet and/or if they're doubling down on this BS.
antidepressants: I’m here to help!
the world: it’s ok if people die as long as other people are making enough money
antidepressants: so yeah this is above my pay grade
It would probably not surprise anyone that Dr. Hyles is from Indiana. This sounds like the Baptist version of exactly the kind of stuff my mom told me about the attitude of her very religious parents in the seventies.
Besides foul-mouthed miniskirt-wearing teachers assigning Steinbeck novels, Hyles also discusses the Beatles' great communist hit "Back in the USSR" and the general depravity of Bob Dylan and the Lovin' Spoonful. The only evidence for the latter was an album called Revolution 69.
