@Expedia after the shuttle I booked and paid for abandoned me at my resort, I then I had to pay over $100 to take a cab to the airport, please explain why you’re refusing to even give me a refund for the shuttle that never showed up? Your company is pathetic
In Florida carrying a firearm without a license is freedom but carrying a book about Black people is a felony.
This is what systemic white supremacy looks like. I won’t be surprised if we see book burnings.
Socialism is a scare word they've hurled at every advance the people have made. Socialism is what they called public power, social security, deposit insurance, and independent labor organizations. Socialism is their name for anything that helps all people.
—Harry Truman, 1952
It's #BellLetsTalk day so let's talk about how Bell won't provide satellite internet or phone service to remote indigenous communities, or how Bell's own staff don't have access to mental health benefits!
If we want to radically improve #mentalhealth, let’s give people housing. End poverty. Promote food security. Be anti-racist. Fund harm reduction. Offer workers paid sick days. Provide equitable healthcare (and mental healthcare) to all…After all, equity IS mental health. 🙏🏽
It’s worth repeating: The goal of private for-profit healthcare is to provide profits for shareholders. Meanwhile, the goal of public healthcare is to provide healthcare for people.
Who else thinks that healthcare for people should matter more than profits for shareholders? ✋🏾
Treating unhoused folks with dignity and providing housing is cheaper than criminalizing homelessness. It also has the added benefit of being humane and effective in addressing the root cause of the problem.
I can't understand why so many folks are using food banks, especially after we did everything we could, from giving corporations subsidies to blaming poor folks.
I'll just take this time to remind everyone that Canada's women's team has a World Cup in 7 months. They're the reigning Olympic gold medallists and are currently ranked 7th in the world.
"Who is going to pay for that?" is never asked when it comes to police & military budgets, yet it is the default response to policy agendas that dare to help folks experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, & mental health issues. We fund what we value, we police what we don't.
Disturbing: New documents show that at a time when ERs are closing, pediatric surgeries are being canceled and our healthcare system is in crisis…the Ontario government wants to cut healthcare staffing, to save money.
Horrific.
So…Once again, Canadian Conservative MPs have voted against dental care for low-income children when these same MPs receive tax-payer funded dental care themselves.
Disgusting.
No immigrant has taken your job. You were laid off by a capitalist who required cheap labor and took advantage of that immigrant to increase his profits, and nothing makes him happier than to hear you blame the immigrant and not him.
So...The Ontario government just announced a 'Plan to Stay Open' that focuses on more beds (aka more furniture) & shifting people around in those beds (aka moving people to different furniture).
But where is the plan to ensure that there are enough nurses to staff those beds?
It's wild how defunding the police is "radical", but defunding education, healthcare, and community programs is the "realistic" approach to helping folks. The truth is we fund what we value and police what we don't.
