Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last Shah and the most prominent opposition figure calling for a free, secular Iran, has issued a direct message to Iran’s armed forces and security services as the uprising continues.

For those unfamiliar, Reza Pahlavi is widely viewed as a symbol of national unity by many Iranians inside and outside the country. He is not calling for personal rule, but for the end of the Islamic Republic and a transition to a government chosen by the Iranian people.

In his message, Pahlavi tells soldiers and security forces that they are facing a historic choice — one that will define how they are remembered:

"This is a direct message addressed to the armed forces and security forces of Iran. You who wear the military uniform to defend the Iranian nation are now facing a historic choice. At a time when the brave and united people of Iran are making and writing history, my question to you is this: on which side of history will you stand — with the criminals, or with the people?
The issue is no longer whether the Islamic Republic, this corrupt and repressive regime, will fall. The only question is when it will fall — and that moment is closer than ever.

In these decisive and fateful moments, I expect you to return to the embrace of the nation and to use your weapons not to fire on the people, but to protect them. By doing so, you will not only fulfill your national duty, but also safeguard your own future and that of your families.

Six months ago, I created the National Cooperation Platform as a secure channel for you to declare loyalty to the people. Thousands of you registered. The 17 year old was traveling on the Tehran Metro on October 1st 2023.

Morality police entered the carriage to enforce hijab rules.

They then accused the teenager of not covering her hair correctly before beating her so severely that she was left in a coma.

Authorities claimed she had ‘fainted’ as they were seen dragging her body from the train.

She was hospitalized suffering from severe brain damage.

She was declared “brain dead” on October 22nd.

She was declared dead on October 28th.
