@BrandSanderson@torbooks Hyped for so many narrative threads getting (some) closure, and especially for Shallan's journey into the Spiritual Realm. (Wind and Truth Hype!)
In @undarkmag, I wrote about how polygenic scores are changing consumer genetic testing, and why experts see it as both promising and worrisome:

Don't miss this incredible, deeply-reported feature on the Salton Sea by @FletcherReveley with stunning photos by @kitracahana. New this week @undarkmag. Big thanks also goes to Jane Roberts for fact-checking and @AmandaGrennell for production 👏👏👏https://t.co/yljK9vKmd5
Flathead Valley Air Quality 'Unhealthy' as Wildfire Smoke Arrives from Canada. There are 92 active fires burning in Alberta; Montana DEQ recommends limiting outdoor exposure as much as possible. https://t.co/LUYK83gAxd
Wonderful writing/reporting/photos by Bill Morris, editing by @Sara_Talpos and production by @AmandaGrennell in today's @undarkmag feature. Quite a tale! https://t.co/Kax20uBOGd
The consequences of abortion bans = physicians are leaving the state, and hospitals can't recruit any to take their place. Which means no care for pregnant period, period.
This great article by @AmandaGrennell at @undarkmag is upsetting to me. Mastitis is a REALLY common and painful problem for post-partum people and there's SO little research on the science of it. It's infuriating.
https://t.co/Nbt9fJbuJJ
@ASKusmer It seems so cliché, but nearly all the experts I interviewed pointed to some version of that answer. Especially compared to formula, there's no economic incentive.
Definitely disheartening! Thank you again for reading and sharing the (sad, infuriating) news.
I had a kid last year! And I started breastfeeding. When I got a lump and symptoms of mastitis four months later, I did what I thought was right: keep the breast empty, and massage the "clogged" milk out.
Then I found out I was doing everything wrong.

@ASKusmer Thank you, Anna! When I first got mastitis and searched the term in PubMed, so many papers were on livestock... One of my sources even joked that we know more about lactation in camels!
Which I think is an illustration of the answer to your question: There's no money in it. 😑
@elandhuis@Sara_Talpos Thank you, Esther! I'm so sorry you also had mastitis - it really makes us desperate for a solution, doesn't it? Which just compounds the situation when there isn't a good evidence base!
Recurrent issues sound so awful, too. I feel lucky my mastitis resolved quickly. 🤞
Breastfeeding? Confused about the new mastitis guidelines? So was @AmandaGrennell, who has a terrific essay @undarkmag today digging into the science https://t.co/a2YjglN0HT
The team @undarkmag graciously encouraged me to write about my experience, and parse the conflicting advice. Many thanks to @brookeborel for thoughtful editing, and Jane Roberts for checking the facts.
My takeaway: Be kind to the breast.

New guidelines on managing mastitis had come out just after my son was born. And they seemed very different from the conventional wisdom.
So, what's the science underlying the change?

It is my honor to be among the first to share the beginning of this week-long effort at scientific truth-telling — a year in the making — from @undarkmag, and under the sharp editorial direction of @ashleythesmart and Angela Saini.

For the past 6+ months, we here at @KSJatMIT and @undarkmag have been working on a project that explores science's long, often-troubled relationship with race. Today, "Long Division: The Persistence of Race Science" finally sees the light of day. https://t.co/f0nySpBVCv
The Long Division series probes the origins and influence of the notion of biological race, and asks: Why does a debunked theory endure — and can its dubious impacts ever be truly overcome?

For the last month I've been reporting on a group of people who travel across America blocking wind and solar projects.
This group has passed clean energy opposition laws in states across the country.
Here's the story of one man who has been doing this for 10+ years.

“We had the death sentences of hundreds of people in our hands,” Dominguez said, later adding: “I was in shock.”
An incredible story by @FletcherReveley. Beautiful, wrenching photos by @kitracahana.
