5/ They said the NHS was “well-equipped & well-prepared”.
They lied.
They said there was no national shortage of PPE.
They lied.
They said there was a plan for shielding the vulnerable.
They lied.
They said they'd thrown a protective ring around care homes.
They lied.
Yesterday the trainees visited the Bodleian's Offsite Storage Facility, which boasts a staggering amount of items stored efficiently in a humidity controlled environment! 📚For more information about ordering offsite books into Oxford, see here: https://t.co/rGWi3hebtd

Things I was taught throughout my medical training that I've stopped believing:
-patients lie to get what they want
-patients are unreliable
-10 out of 10 pain is rare
-patients who don't get better are non-compliant
-patients who don't get better have psychiatric problems
-the end justifies the means when it comes to medical treatment
-medical consent is a piece of paper
I am not perfect. But I am learning. And the best teacher isn't my professors' voices in my head or the textbooks, but the person who sits right in front of me in the exam room.
Boosting vulnerable people with a covid vaccine not matched to the dominant strains will certainly lead to worse outcomes than if these people had received the updated vaccine. People will die for this penny pinching.
Breaking in @thetimes - the scandal of Sunak’s much hyped ‘additional’ 5000 hospital beds to avert a winter crisis amounting, in fact, to 3000 *fewer* beds.
Sunak’s promise was a downright lie.
He quite clearly cares not one jot about the NHS or patients’ lives.
"If the water companies pollute, then they should be fined, but the consumers shouldn't pay those fines" @GreenJennyJones "Water companies can use shares to pay the fines and if they keep creating a mess then the public will own those companies, at no extra cost."

It's now a year since Marcus and Morgan were detained for non-violent protest on the Dartford Crossing.
Prisons are full. And yet our corrupt government has criminalised effective protest.
Why? Because they are afraid. Afraid of change it will inevitably bring. (1/2)
3 weeks ago 50 of our children were left abandoned by @AvantiWestCoast at Preston station. They offered us mo safe route home, and we made it back only due to sourcing transport ourselves. Today they have confirmed they will not be offering any financial compensation over and 1/3
BREAKING.
Mass direct actions are shutting down construction of the Mountain Valley Pipeline at two locations. People have swarmed both sites, and a total of four people have locked-down to construction equipment. #NoMVP
Totally false. 76% of the population of Palestine was not even of voting age when elections were held in 2006. Of the rest, of those who voted at that time, ~40% voted Hamas (turnout 75%)- so a maximum of 7% of the current population could've voted for Hamas.
MSF doctor Ghassan Abu-Sitta’s voice message to @IamArwaDamon after reaching Gaza’s Shifa hospital, where “thousands have flocked to and are sleeping on the grounds, between patient beds in the wards.”
What he describes is horrific.
“People are too afraid to bury their dead.”
Fairly certain now that, as a result of Earth's growing energy imbalance, we will have breached the planetary boundary of 1.5°C by the end of 2024. What a collective failure of the human enterprise that it can't even maintain its own home planet!
The IPCC suggests 3.2C of heating by the end of this century, under current policies
Can anyone point me towards a serious, robust analysis suggesting that organised human society could survive that?
Have to be frank, criticising Labour's policy of paid overtime to help with NHS backlogs is counterproductive.
It is exactly what we have been asking for - 'stop giving resources to private providers and give the NHS the resources instead.'
This is what that looks like!
