““Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.””
2 Kings 6:16
Never forget, The God of Angel armies is with us. The unseen reigns supreme and is more powerful than human will, human intellect and human might.
Fear only has as much access to our hearts as we allow. And today's a good day to tell fear, “Stand down in the name of Jesus. You are messing with the wrong girl this time!”
We don't have to dance with the devil’s lies.
"A time is coming when many will repent too late, believe too late, have sorrow for sin too late, begin to pray too late. Myriads shall wake up in another world, and be convinced of truths which on earth they refused to believe. Hell...is nothing but truth known too late" JC Ryle
It falls upon the Jesus-follower, especially one whom God has called to lead, to carry - and carry on - the values of Christ and none other than Christ. Jesus was not one whit interested in preserving traditions of men. Jesus went about restoring people. Not power structures.
New day.
New mercies.
New opportunities.
New possibilities.
New challenges.
New hopes.
New dreams.
New paths.
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isa 43:19)
This year don’t forget to remind yourself again and again of the “nowism” of the gospel, that Jesus didn’t do his work just for your past and your future, but also for everything you’re facing today, right here, right now.
It’s not your performance, it’s not your theological prowess, it’s not your biblical literacy, it’s not your ministry commitment, it’s grace and grace alone that is your hope right now and for all the “right nows” to come.
