The flames grazing my heels cannot free my belly buried passion,
blocked by my whithering pain.
Unable to escape my jawlock and force smile,
teeth like bars on a window.
What once was a temple, and I a god.
Has become a dungeon.
I am my own prisoner.

Blood mingled healing slides down the back of my throat.
Silence.
I encased my stained glass soul in a brick, mortar attempt
to keep out the darkness.
But, cement density banishes light.
My peace fumbles the gate-absent chambers inside my quakeless heart.
It knocks, no answer.
