@Lifeofpuck07@Gauguina_@jk_rowling@SkyDalby37773@beanschicken1 Because sex class is such an important classification for human beings that we use it in our grammar systems, patterns of clothing and legal systems. Attempts to break the simple relationship to accommodate the transgender concept fail on many grounds.
“International law doesn’t give you a right to form a family using whatever means. International law doesn’t support a view that just because you want to have a child with your genetic makeup, that you are entitled to have a child.” –@UNSRVAW on surrogacy 💯💯💯
An excellent interview with United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls Reem Alsalem by @rachelbaxendale in the @australian covering surrogacy, sex-based rights, prostitution, youth gender medicine and the targeting of those who speak out.
It was great to be able to attend the recent conference in Melbourne – “In the name of the Child: The Perils of Surrogate Motherhood for Mother and Baby” – at which Reem was a keynote speaker.
The Australian Law Reform Commission’s final report on its review of surrogacy laws is due on 11 September. It’s a shame no one involved with the review attended the conference, despite being invited.
Women are not wombs for rent, and children are not products to be bought and sold.

“Burning issue for AFL. Allowing trans players in women's footy branded risky and dangerous” in the Herald Sun newspaper today in Australia 🇦🇺 Link 🔗 to article below ⬇️
🚨⚽️🚨 Victorian female soccer players speak out about the safety risks and unfairness of allowing male players to compete in female competitions:
⚽️ “Ms Steiner said she felt a responsibility to speak up after competing against the transgender player, who the Herald Sun has chosen not to identify by name.
“This player was undeniably faster, stronger and more technical, out running some of the quickest players in the league,” she said.
“I found myself thinking damn this player is an absolute beast and shocked by their abilities, unaware she was a transgender woman until the game was finished.”
“The transgender player won a top goal scorer award while competing in the state’s premier knockout competition for women’s football earlier this month, later bragging about [his] win on social media.”
⚽️ Another female player, who previously competed on the same team as the [trans-identifying male] told the Herald Sun that it was clear the player was “physically advantaged in speed and strength,” raising concerns about “injury risk and unfair advantages”.
“Many players admitted being too scared to go in for tackles against them,”
“When she raised concerns with Football Victoria she was told inclusion is their “foremost priority”.
⚽️ Head of Advocacy @WomensForumAust Stephanie Bastiaan said allowing biological men to play in women’s sports was “wrong and unfair.”
“It is a serious failure of leadership that @footballvic continues to prioritise diversity and inclusion over fairness and safety in female sport,” she said.
@AlboMP and @AnikaWells, female players across the country - from different sporting codes and at every level of competition - are speaking out about the impact of males competing in female sport. At what point will you stop ignoring their concerns and take action to enforce protections for single sex sports?

“A transgender woman sued police for “dead naming” her during an arrest after she allegedly assaulted her ex-boyfriend…
The woman launched the discrimination case against the NSW Police over an October 2024 incident where they used her male birth name while charging her.”
Clinicians in Australia warned of risks and lack of evidence for pediatric medical transition interventions. Medical associations, surprisingly, fully endorse them, a claim that initially seemed unbelievable but proved true upon investigation. @Bernard_Lane
Your regular reminder that women give birth and live longer than men, while men can... Run faster and lift heavier things. If you think this means women are weaker than men then you're simply not intelligent enough to be part of this debate.
I received permission to share this email from a police officer/detective re the male paedophile being housed in a Victorian women’s prison. Their next email was much less measured.

🇬🇧 INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY — LONDON, 29 AUGUST
This Saturday, women will gather at London’s Old Bailey to mark the 203rd anniversary of the Gaols Act, for which Elizabeth Fry campaigned to establish separate prisons for women.
🌏 Women from around the world will be represented, including 🇦🇺 Australia.
Women Speak Tasmania will be represented, with our speech being read at the action.
🎶 The women’s anthem, to the tune of Auld Lang Syne:
We stand together, side by side
We will defend our rights
We stand together, side by side
We'll not give up this fight
Chorus
For women's rights are human rights
We won't let you forget
For women's rights are human rights
This isn't over yet
Politicians and their friends
May think we can be cowed
Our minds and bodies we'll defend
Our NO will ring out loud
Women, wherever we are, are not alone.
We speak together. We stand together.

When a man is put in the female estate, it means he is being rewarded for his crimes & has power over everyone from fellow inmates to prison guards, to the judiciary & the politicians. So, congratulations, @ChrisMinnsMP, you’ve let everyone be manipulated by a convicted felon 👏
🚨🚨🚨 BREAKING: A violent male offender has been transferred to a NSW women’s prison – despite repeated assurances from the Minns @NSWLabor Government that men would not be housed in women’s prisons.
‘Women’s Forum Australia boss Rachael Wong said the Minns Government has “repeatedly assured the public that men would not be housed in women’s prisons – including the Premier himself as recently as May”.
“Those assurances have now been exposed as false,” she said. “This is an appalling betrayal of women in custody.
“Surgery does not make a male offender female or eliminate the risk of male violence.
“In South Australia, multiple female prisoners have alleged they were sexually and physically assaulted by a violent male inmate who had undergone full reassignment surgery.
“Women in prison are among the most vulnerable women in NSW, many with histories of male violence, sexual abuse and trauma. Forcing them to live in intimate conditions with a violent male offender is an affront to their safety, privacy, dignity and human rights.”’
‼️ This transfer must be reversed immediately. The Government must explain how the transfer was approved despite the obvious safety concerns and why the public was repeatedly given assurances that have now proved untrue.
It must also undertake an independent inquiry, publish its prison policy which disappeared from public access over a year ago, disclose how many other male offenders are being considered for transfer, and urgently introduce an unequivocal policy that women’s prisons are for female prisoners only.
We should not have to wait for more women to be assaulted before this Government finally acts.

Today Brisbane Meanjin's women's rights activists (and one baby, can you spot him?) took it to AHPRA again - the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. The agency has overstepped its role for too long, exercising an authoritarian control over the medical opinions of its membership, bullying and making an example of members who have reservations about the gender affirmation model of treatment for children and young people that the AHPRA hierarchy has been captured by. Most AHPRA members are too frightend to speak up because AHPRA has the power to withdraw their ways of making a living.
AHPRA is accountable to the Australian Parliament via the Health Ministerial Council. We call on the Council to undertake an independent review of AHPRA and oversee its restructure. Qld's rep on the Council is Health Minister Tim Nicholls MP, it is led by Federal Health Minister Mark Butler MP.
All the passersby who spoke to us today expressed support for our work, no one expressed any disagreement with us. One passerby even agreed to have his photo taken holding one of our corflutes.
Aryan 'Anaya' Bangar is an Indian man who isn't allowed to play on the women's cricket team in India, so Australia have told him he is eligible to play in Australia. This certainly is the 'lucky country' for men claiming to be women.
It was an honour to host United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, Reem Alsalem (@UNSRVAW), at NSW Parliament with MPs, journalists and advocates.
The Special Rapporteur spoke about the ‘Modern Day Threats to Women and Girls’, including the erasure of biological sex, surrogacy and prostitution.
Thank you Reem for visiting Australia and for all you are doing to protect women and girls 💜
