The light inside of me cannot be extinguished.

I know this because I stood in a field yesterday full of people who were never written down, and their names came back up out of the grass the second somebody showed up willing to read them. Four babies with carved stones and no record anywhere. A woman whose whole childhood was her mother burying them.

Nothing about them was extinguished. It was only unattended.

That is the difference, and it is the whole of it.

@garyvee , I went from no degree to VP at JPMorgan Chase, controlling the most regulated payment product in the country, sitting next to Harvard degrees. Then I lost nearly everyone and everything, and I built anyway. In March I saw @claudesilver post about ten years as your Chief Heart Officer, and I knew in that moment what my first hire had to be. Not sales. Not marketing. Heart. This month I hired her. My first human employee is my Chief of Heart. My question: when you created that role with Claude, what did year one teach you that you’d tell a founder whose Chief of Heart is employee number one instead of employee eight hundred?
