December 20th 2024,my mum was buried after passing away 2 days prior.I felt the world had descended on my head & couldn't function for a long time. Mum was my biggest supporter , helping me achieve my personal and professional goals especially when it comes to volunteering .

Dear Minister of Homeland Security,

It was great to see today that you've gone to work. While everything is urgent, please, please, consider making passport processing a priority. People are suffering. The crooks who were in power destroyed the passport printing processes due to greed. Kindly restore this with the greatest urgency.

Hope you are well.

I am a Malawian living in South Africa, I want you post this on your page that has a large following on it on Facebook.

The issues is Passport. I together other thousands of Malawian living in Cape Town, earlier this year, if not mistaken Between April and May, Malawian consular staff come to Come Town for us who wanted to renew oir passports.I left home on Saturday at 3 am to be first assisted as I had other errands. To my surprise, I found people that literally slept https://t.co/tCTgeBTPPy , I did my application at 21:30 pm, paid my R500 fee.

Its now almost end of year no news is coming either from the consular office in South Africa or from immigration from Malawi. They asked us to find someone in Malawi who should pay for our renewal in Blantyre, I send K400,000 as officials at immigration demanded that money inorder to be assisted.i sent R800,000 for two passport for me and wife.

Now we don't know what to do,no update, no idea what's going on.

Can someone in Malawi from the immigration address us, we need our passports because our visa expired and we can be deported if caught.

I cant access my bank account because of my expired visa and passport. Our lives are hell as we speak.

Please, help us with updates or steps we should take

There are scores of such messages. A woman wrote me last week. She had been sleeping on the queue for two weeks, all the way from Nkhotakota. Her daughter requires urgent medical attention outside Malawi.

We are aware that the damage caused by that bunch of thieves will take long to reverse, but this one, please do whatever you can to get things working the soonest you can.
