Historic Day for Ethiopia 🇪🇹
PM Abiy Ahmed and billionaire Aliko Dangote have laid the foundation for the Dangote Urea Fertilizer Plant in Gode, Somali Region.
With a capacity of 3 million tons a year, this will be Africa’s largest fertilizer plant.
We Ethiopians have successfully completed the Abay Dam. First of all, our gratitude is to GOD, to our people and then to our leaders, especially Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who withstood all the diplomatic pressure from Egypt and made it possible. Egyptian leaders,
The Yabelo Airport is more than just a runway and taxiway—it is a pathway to realizing our collective dreams.
Today, we inaugurated the Yabelo Airport, a new gateway of hope and development for the Borena people. This airport answers their long-standing call for progress and stands as a bridge connecting history with the future, heritage with advancement, and people with opportunity—opening horizons of connection and promise.
For generations, the Borena people have served as guardians of our border, keepers of the ancient Gada system, and exemplars of peace, justice, and freedom. They have shown remarkable resilience, overcoming severe droughts through their extraordinary wisdom in water management.
With today’s inauguration, the Borena Zone gains a vital opportunity to showcase its rich cultural heritage and natural treasures, to expand market access, and to unlock new tourism routes. At the same time, this expansion of our domestic air transport system strengthens bonds among our people and brings us closer to our shared dream of building a nation that is accessible, connected, and prosperous for all.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Borena Zone and Yabelo City, as well as to the senior leaders of the Oromia Region, for the warm and vibrant welcome. Congratulations to the people of Borena and the surrounding areas on this historic milestone—the opening of the Yabelo Airport!
Ethiopia 🇪🇹 has signed a $2.5 billion deal with Nigeria’s 🇳🇬 Dangote Group to build a urea fertilizer plant.
The project will make Ethiopia one of the world’s biggest fertilizer producers.
Once completed, the plant is expected to produce up to 3 million metric tons each year.
Emperor Menelik led Ethiopia to a historic victory at the Battle of Adwa 129 years ago, defeating Italian forces and preserving Ethiopia's independence. His strategic leadership, diplomacy, and unity of diverse armies inspired Africa's resistance to colonialism.
