HORN OF AFRICA HEREDITARY POLITICAL DILEMMA The new claimant - regent - to the throne Ras Teferi (Emperor H. Sellasie) befriends Duce (Mussolini) and visited Italy in 1934. He was provided with some arms and assistance.
Successive political leaders of Ethiopia: i.e. Major Mengistu, Prime Minister Meles, Prime Minister Hailemariam in the recent past and Prime Minister Abiy inthe present have followed the same proxy security, polectical, economic and diplomatic game, which were inherited from that era as a cultural value and as a model of rule for staying in power by these leaders.
Let me share a recent memory, 1984 Rome: on the request and demand of the Mengistu government, Eritrea Peoples Liberation Front (EPLF) was requested for a secret meeting. EPLF accepted the request for their convenience.
In this meeting Dr. Shwandang Bekele reads a memo explaining to our delegation in which he stated that the socialist state of Ethiopia has been elevated to a communist state through economic developments that were achieved in the country since 1974.
Baffled by his presentation, I asked him: “if what you are saying is true, why is famine of the population in Ethiopia being reported publicly and openly in the whole world”. The answer he gave me was blunt and straight forward: “that is western imperialist’s propaganda”.
A very corrupted political leadership heritage which caused conflicts, wars, underdevelopment, poverty, famine & displacements of the population of the region in millions for almost a century now:
The security chief of Ethiopia: Colonel Tesfay Weldeselassie, Dr. Alemu Abebe, Dr. Shewandagn Bekele on their side Ermias Debesay and myself from the EPLF side were in the above-mentioned meeting.

Eritrea's senior delegation composed of Mr. Hagos Ghebrehiwet, Head of Economic Affairs; and, Mr. Nesredin Saleh, the Minister of Trade and Industry, held a series of fruitful meetings with various Egyptian Ministers and other institutions today.
In the meeting with the Minister of Industry, Mr. Khaled Hashem, the discussions centered on industrial best practices and the nurturing of robust sectoral ties between the two countries.
The delegation also met with the Heads of Central Bank and National Bank of Egypt respectively on cooperation in banking facilities; with the authorities of the Egyptian Commercial Services (ECS) on enhancement of bilateral trade in commodities produced in both countries; and, with senior officials of "The Future of Egypt Government Authority" that focuses on industrial and other developmental tasks at home and abroad.
Eritrea's delegation is scheduled to meet tomorrow with the Minister of Transport; the Minister of Electricity; the Minister of Agriculture; as well as the Egyptian Drug Authority.
Double-speak and duplicity of Potemkin Party (PP) officials is again in full and glaring display!
Only last Thursday, PP's Foreign Minister tried to re-package, essentially to hoodwink the diplomatic community, Ethiopia's two-year long reckless war agenda and incessant saber-rattling for "sovereign access to the sea" in "self-defense" language.
But on the morrow of the FM's speech delivered in English, a senior General in the Ethiopian army pleads, in Amharic, to the various internal armed movements "to give the ENDF a respite "as they are bracing for a "larger mission".
This is indeed typical of the war-mongering agenda that PP senior political and military officials have been, and continue to convey, to their domestic audiences in cryptic, and often more explicit, terms.

In Rome, I met with Italian National Security Advisor Fabrizio Saggio to discuss our shared commitment to stability in Libya, peace across the Mediterranean, and greater investment in Africa that drives long-term growth. The U.S. and Italy will remain strong partners in supporting security in Libya and the Mediterranean while expanding constructive engagement with leaders in the Horn of Africa.
President Isaias Afwerki met, in mid-afternoon hours today at State House, Sudanese delegation led by Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris for extensive discussions on enhancement of bilateral ties, the efforts underway to resolve the conflict in Sudan, as well as other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
President Isaias underlined that Eritrea's position on vital matters regarding Sudan is both principled and immutable; anchored, as it is, on unequivocal support to Sudan's unity and dignity. President Isaias further added that Eritrea will continue to play its part in the ongoing endeavours for a durable solution to the conflict in the Sudan.
Prime Minister Kamil Idris, on his part, delivered a message of good wishes from General Abdul-Fattah al- Burhan, the Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council, to President Isaias Afwerki, as well as greetings and gratitude from the entire people of Sudan.
Prime Minister Kamil paid tribute to "the bold position of the Government and people of Eritrea at a critical juncture in which the people of Sudan were going through difficult and trying times due to an imposed war". PM Kamil further attested that "Eritrea's inspirational and historic stance stem from its profound values".
‘As we all agree, the League of Nations and the UN were originally conceived as viable architectures of global governance to advance the pronounced lofty objectives that we all cherish. In this respect and at a time when humanity is aspiring for a transition from the old, defunct, global order to a new one, the over-arching quest must revolve around finding, outside tangential ideological acrimonies, enduring solutions to fundamental and outstanding problems that our global community continues to grapple with.’ Minister Osman at #UNGA
“#Eritrea’s lesson is both simple and profound: Small nations at a geopolitical crossroads can—and do—shift the trajectory of great powers. To underestimate its value is to fundamentally misread the past and invite peril in the future.”@globalezra#EritreaPrevails

If not confronted, Public Discourse can shift and be dominated by Lies and Liars very quickly!
Like Abiy's lies regarding Asseb and his sovereign access to the sea.
That's the only reason why #Eritreans try to set the record straight!
Not because there is any credence on the lies or the Liars!
#Eritrea: Statement by Ms. Elsa Haile, Director General for International Organizations, at High-Level Meeting on 30th Anniversary of Fourth World Conference on Women; UN, 22 Sept. 2025
*"...Eritrean women have long stood at the forefront of national resilience from carrying rifles in the trenches of liberation, to advancing development, to tilling the land and raising families..., to strengthening communities across the diaspora".
*"...Their contributions embody the principle of 'equality through participation'. This reflects the conviction that equality is not a slogan, but a reality achieved when women are fully included as equal partners in every sphere of social, economic, cultural, and political life".
"...Eritrea has nearly achieved gender parity in school enrolments, with maternal mortality representing an overall reduction of 82 percent over the past two decades, while the enforcement of the 2007 ban on FGM has resulted in significant decline of the practice".
