We had a congenial gathering with @ojca_ojcc (nikkei) leaders on Tuesday, long awaited since the start of the pandemic. Their story and positive engagements with the communities and people are always inspiring. Looking forward to working together on cultural and other activities.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure to confer a posthumous Ambassador’s award to Maj. Ted Itani, an esteemed role model of service to people in crisis around the world. The ceremony was attended by his beloved wife, Frances Itani, daughter Samantha & granddaughters Campbell & Tate.
I'm pleased to see 🇯🇵 Minister Hayashi and 🇨🇦 Foreign Minister @melaniejoly confirm their solidarity in addressing important issues including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, responses to North Korea's provocative actions and to priority areas of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.

Last night, I joined the 15th Canada-Japan Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology and heard of various research cooperation between 🇯🇵 and 🇨🇦. I hope that this meeting will further promote science and technology cooperation with 🇨🇦.

I had an excellent meeting w/ Premier @fordnation last week. We discussed current issues & matters of mutual interest, incl. transportation, hydrogen & urban infrastructure building. 🇯🇵-Ontario industrial cooperation continues to be dynamic & is indeed a success story for 🇯🇵&🇨🇦.
