​आईआईटी बॉम्बे के बीटेक छात्र साहिल वाकोडे की मौत के मामले में परिजनों ने जातिगत उत्पीड़न और मानसिक प्रताड़ना के गंभीर आरोप लगाए हैं। छात्र के पिता रवींद्र वाकोडे का कहना है कि यह सामान्य आत्महत्या नहीं बल्कि संस्थान के भेदभावपूर्ण रवैये का नतीजा है।

​परिजनों की शिकायत पर पवई पुलिस ने प्रोफेसर सूर्य नारायण दूला के खिलाफ आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाने और SC/ST (अत्याचार निवारण) अधिनियम के तहत मामला दर्ज कर जांच शुरू कर दी है। छात्रों के कड़े विरोध के बाद प्रशासन ने आरोपी प्रोफेसर को डीन पद से हटाते हुए अपने शुरुआती बयान पर औपचारिक माफी जारी की है।
