Falconry & Power, an abridged 🧵Chand Bibi of Ahmadnagar sultanate presented resistance to Akbar & Jahangir’s Deccan campaigns. Mughals could never capture/kill her. Posthumous portraits depict her as adept at the art of falconry with a baz or goshawk resting on her wrist.
Old Urdu accounts of Delhi have interesting details of home-delivery of goods to the city's traditional women's quarters. A diverse group of women hawkers/professionals sold all sorts of goods to zenana ladies in purdah : fruits,chaat,embroidery, textiles,shampoo services etc.

Humayun called books "his true companions" & took a portable library wherever he went, kept on wooden chests carried by special library camels. He was overjoyed when two camels carrying his "personal imperial books," lost at the battle of the Qipchaq Pass in 1550 turned up again.
