For Christmas this year I got big doubts about the reality of metalinguistic awareness (((I listened to my sister argue vehemently that "harry" is monosyllabic, and my mother argue that "silliness" is a verb))).

Navigating a US city is essentially a constant conflict between half of my brain that's like "this car-centric infrastructure is unsustainable, inconvenient and a public health risk" and the other half that periodically shouts "COOL TRUCK 🛻🚛🚒!!!" this is dissonance.

Last night in the UK for a while! Tomorrow, I fly to the States to start my PhD at @YaleLinguistics. I'm a little nervous for the move, but utterly buzzing* to get to know the department and explore more linguistics. Can't wait to get started! 💬👐📖🧠
