Interesting! Inclusion of survival data as 30 vs 60% in an RCT on antenatal counselling did nothing to influence parental choices in periviable pregnancies

In 2018, "Parachute use to prevent death and major trauma when jumping from aircraft: randomized controlled trial" was published in the British Medical Journal.
It sought to determine if wearing a parachute when jumping from a plane had any impact on survivability.
It did not.
Outside of an emergency, if you are going to intubate a baby please consider full premedication. Your chances of getting the tube in & not having adverse events are better.
Don't the babies deserve that?

I was not ok today. I expressed frustration toward a resident trying to admit from the ER. And then, midway, I caught myself and apologized. I told them I was tired and overwhelmed and then we figured out a plan for said patient.
It’s ok to not be ok. It’s also ok to admit it.

Over four years ago, Brian protested with March For Our Lives to demand action on gun violence in our schools and communities.
This week, he was shot in both hands and through his neck by an AR-15 at his school in St. Louis. He jumped out of a window to save his life.
Squeezing in a day of early celebrations on the weekend in between calls. But very grateful for this home away from home.
Happy Diwali 🪔 wishing everyone good health and bright days ahead! #Diwali
Pulse oximetry overestimates O2 saturation by 2.4-fold greater for Black infants and resulted in greater occult hypoxemia (SpO2 > 90% when SaO2 < 85%; 9.2% vs. 7.7% of samples)
Do darker skinned infants need different targets?

Nothing says modern American dinner like a dining room table, a hearty meal and your elementary school aged children sharing how they got stickers for being the quietest while hiding in a classroom corner during an active shooter drill.
