I’ve seen so many of these posts about “Creator Tips” & I’m gonna give a couple of genuine advice bc I feel like people are going about this the wrong way & are being unhelpful, so here goes:
Gonna start this off by saying anyone can be a creator, but content creation isn’t for everyone.
It’s a harsh reality check but it is one that’s needed.
People say they want it but there’s a lot that comes with it that people don’t realise or comprehend.
You gotta work hard, but work smart, & at the end of the day, it should always be fun.
Turn that view count off, be consistent, be genuine, manage your time & resources effectively, close those stat trackers, never open any Thread boards or pay attention to petty drama, don’t get one-guyed & start arguing all over your feed, don’t do it for money, fuck the meta, & for God’s sake do not copy anyone.
Be the best you that you can be, not for the sake of content, but just as a human being.
Become the role model you wish you had & look up to yourself, but don’t get an ego.
Ground yourself & have reality checks that you’re just human like everyone else, this doesn’t make you above anyone, & numbers don’t mean shit if you lose yourself along the way, but at the same time, stop referring to yourself as a “small streamer”.
That mentality is going to hold you back.
You’re a creator like the rest of them, just show how you’re different & why people should come & check you out.
In terms of everything, you’re supposed to look at it from an outside perspective whether it be a stream, video, RT on Twitter, & everything you say/do can & will be seen.
Look at your socials feed, Look at your content, etc etc.
Take a step back; You have to look at it from your community’s view.
Would YOU consume that content?
Is it something you’re proud of as both creator AND audience?
If the answer is no, then drawing board it.
If things aren’t working, plan out a strategy of attack to shake things up & present what you do in a way that is fun, works for you, is unique & different, & most of all honest & true to you.
Play to your strengths.
It’s not about WHAT you do, it’s HOW you do it.
For every one person that cheers you on & supports you, there will equally be another that wishes your downfall & tries to make rumours or demand that you would k*** yourself & actively try to make your life a living hell no matter how much good you try to do, & paint you to be the worst person imaginable. As hard as it may be, don’t listen or respond to them.
There are creators that pretend to be someone they’re not (completely separate to OCs, I’m talking like manipulative & two faced lying stuff) & folks that only care about using you or stepping on you to achieve their goals & folks that accuse you of this once you grow when in fact they treat you differently & you go from being a friend to a jealous someone they want to use for their own benefit, & a lot think they’re the main character that is entitled & deserves any success you may have, talking shit & turning your peers against you.
Most aren’t your friends, they’re just acquaintances or less.
Keep your trusted circle small.
What do you hope to achieve for your community? What difference do you want to make? But more importantly how will you place the steps you need to put to reach your goals & be a positive influence?
Remember your roots, remember what matters, & don’t lose yourself along the way no matter what.
Stream is the playtime with chat, enjoy & treasure every second with them. They’re special, & without them, there wouldn’t be a you; They deserve the world, it’s up to you to give them that.
I hope this helps with a few things & peeps for those thinking about it; There’s so much more I could say but this post is long enough, & I can advise BUT there’s no guarantee this works.
Everyone is different, this is just my suggestions.
It’s the best job in the world, but people need to realise it’s more than you think.
Be true, be you.
Spread love like cheeks~ 💜
