Off Duty Sheriffs Sergeant is behind bars after a night out turned Violent. Sgt. Jason Stickels was intoxicated and Harassed an elderly couple at Merks Bar and Grill in New Smyrna Beach and Allegedly Battered the 71 year old Woman and her 77 year old husband when he stepped in. Stickels is charged with 2 counts of Battery on people 65 or older. After the arrest the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Publicly Apologized to the Couple and offered to buy them lunch and the Bystander that helped restrain the Sgt. At Sheriffs expense.
