There are moments in history when painting becomes an act of survival, when colors turn into a language that carries what words can no longer hold.
Here in Gaza, after the genocide, art is no longer a luxury — it has become the only way faces don’t disappear and stories are not erased.
I painted to stay alive. I painted because pain, if not transformed into an image, devours its owner from within.
My paintings were not born in a quiet studio, but under bombardment, in displacement, on cheap printing paper when real art paper became a distant dream.
Many were damaged by rain, cracked by humidity, and scattered by constant forced movement — yet they insisted on surviving, just as we did.
And today, I will no longer keep them in the shadows. I will open a major exhibition, the first of its kind in the Gaza Strip.
I will invite everyone to witness it — journalists, artists, and anyone who wants to see the truth as it is. I will make the world talk about it, not because I seek fame, but because these paintings carry what must not be hidden.
In this exhibition I will reveal everything: the suffering, the pain, the displacement, the homes turned to ash, and the souls that still resist.
Every painting will be a testimony. Every color will be a scream.
These works are not just art — they are what remains of us.
I need to frame them, to protect them from rain and decay, so the last part that survived this genocide is not lost.
Help me save what remains. Help revive this painted memory.
Because when art survives, an entire people gains the chance to be seen, to be heard, and never forgotten.
Very little of the world's suffering is caused by "hate." Most of it is from devaluing other people's lives. Bush didn't hate Iraqis, he was just willing to kill half a million of them
As a Palestinian, I tried everything to rebuild my life.
I mastered biomedical engineering, repaired electronics, protected my family, fought illness, and did whatever it took to survive.
Now I am trying to save my future.
I am fighting with everything I have, but lately I feel invisible.
You applauded our work when we brought medical devices back to life.
Today, I ask you to stand beside me while I try to build a life of my own. 🤍
if you oppose israel as a politician or a public figure, a lot of political operatives & mainstream publications will actively try to humiliate & make a lesson out of you. just remain steadfast and remember, no amount of manufactured outrage will wash the blood off their hands.
The Liberal government might as well have called its AI strategy “All in for AI”.
This is a document that is heavy on hype, but light on the right guardrails that we need to protect people – and to ensure that the benefits of the technology don’t just flow to a handful of tech giants and investors.
It proposes a massive boost to business adoption of AI, with no concern for the consequences this will have for workers, especially young workers who are already watching careers vanish before their eyes.
This government is imposing a world-changing technology on all of us without any public debate. Instead of putting in place strong regulations to safeguard workers, youth, privacy, and our water and energy supply, they prefer to “move fast and break things” as the Silicon Valley motto goes.
That’s why before rushing ahead, with no brakes, we need a robust regulatory framework. Every other industry in this country, from forestry to banking, is regulated. Yet somehow, when it comes to generative AI that is controlled by MAGA-aligned billionaires, the usual rules don’t apply.
New Democrats support the development of cutting edge technology. For AI, that looks like responsible machine learning with small, contained datasets and targeted applications.
We’re calling for a humans-first AI strategy. One that protects Canadian jobs, data and natural resources. Not a strategy that mimics the worst tendencies of AI chatbots: hallucinating benefits and flattering big tech CEOs by telling them exactly what they want to hear.
An incredible victory for @HamawyForNJ.
More proof that taking a principled stand on Israel's genocide is not a liability among the working class majority of this continent.
Moral clarity is popular.

This is not what we voted for.
Canada has failed to condemn a single military aggression against Iran by the US, Israel, or Persian Gulf states.
Under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Iran holds the inherent right to self-defense against these attacks.
This selective approach severely undermines international law and peace.
The Canadian government according to conservatives: we are communist and love being woke
The Canadian government actually: we are neoliberal and love genocide
I dunno, I think some of the academics, such as the woman who posted the email, are pissed about losing their jobs so that students can access frontier models. But why look into something when you can just be surface-level asshole about it.
Person who has an elevator that goes directly into the living room of their NYC apartment:
Israel must exist as an ethnostate because nowhere is safe for me i am a uniquely oppressed person
if you submit AI generated writing to @curaffairs not only will it be rejected but you will receive a rude and demoralizing email castigating you viciously for your laziness and disrespect for the craft of writing
⭕️ NYT Called Every Major Gaza City a “Hamas Stronghold,” New Book Documents
A new book by media critic Adam Johnson, How to Sell a Genocide: The Media’s Complicity in the Destruction of Gaza, documents how the New York Times used the term “Hamas stronghold” 154 times between October 2023 and October 2024, almost always while reporting on war crimes or pending war crimes.
Johnson shows the paper applied the label to all five of Gaza’s most populated cities, including refugee camps like Jabaliya, where an Israeli strike killed upwards of 120 people in an October 2023 attack. The NYT headline read: “Israel Strike Targets Hamas Stronghold in Dense Gaza Area.”
The book argues the framing militarized civilian areas in the public imagination to justify their destruction.
