My students engage in academic discourse during group activities. I provide the grade level vocabulary before the activity as well as sentence stems. The students have to respond to questions by restating them. #pisdmathchat

The station that I have in place is Fact Fluency that is done every day. I also have a preview, review, and technology station. I feel that the review station helps the students continue to improve skills as well as maintain them throughout the year.

The tools & strategies that I use is that I relate math to real world situations and ask students to act out problems. They enjoy getting out of their seats or watching their classmate be part of the real-world situation.

The math routine that I incorporate is Number Talks. At the beginning, I would post the problems and model my thinking on how I use the number 10 to help me solve it. Now, I ask students to share different strategies on how to solve the problem.

Division Introduction Activity
There are six students at a table. A group of two students at that table received either green, yellow, blue or red squares. They had to work together to count them and divide them equally among the six students at the table.
