@KanekoaTheGreat One thing that struck me: if a person sees their beloved spouse shot, wouldn't the first instinct be to run to them desperately to help/ get help? Why was the wife just hanging by on the wayside? Just a rhetorical question, seems odd.

@BlondeMAGAinNJ That is the REAL question. Look up the SF-86 form. Fed employees & contractors w/security clearances must undergo on hiring & recertify periodically. Finances are scrutinized. My question is: why aren't members of Congress required to do it? It's a matter of national security.
