Spent time yesterday at a family-run Beautiful Clean Coal mine that has supported local jobs for decades while delivering reliable, affordable, secure energy to the community.
These hardworking Americans are the backbone of @POTUS’ American Energy Dominance Agenda. 🇺🇸
“We appreciate EPA’s efforts to rescind one-size-fits-all ELG requirements that are unnecessarily prescriptive. This represents another step to help preserve the nation’s coal fleet, which is essential to providing affordable and reliable electricity, especially at a time when electricity demand is exploding. We look forward to working with EPA to ensure the proposal is workable. At the same time, we urge EPA to repeal the 2024 ELG Rule because it is a significant threat to the nation’s coal fleet.”

America’s Power visited Tunnel Ridge Mine and AEP’s Amos Power Plant, seeing firsthand how coal moves from production to powering the grid.
Thanks to Alliance Resource Partners & AEP for hosting, and to FERC Chairman Laura Swett, FERC Commissioner Lindsay See & WV PSC Chair Charlotte Lane for joining.
We commend FERC’s leadership for engaging on the ground to better understand the coal supply chain. Reliable energy depends on resources like coal.
The Biden EPA tried to strangulate beautiful, clean coal out of existence, and we are urgently reversing that damage. At the Trump EPA, unlike certain Democrat politicians, we will NEVER tell coal miners they need to just learn to code.
Michelle Bloodworth in @WashTimes:
“The Iran conflict is demonstrating one of our nation’s major strengths: our vast domestic energy resources which include more coal than any other country on earth.”

.@GovernorShapiro just extended the life of two vital coal plants in Pennsylvania – The Keystone and Conemaugh Generating Stations.
These facilities provide 3,400+ MW of reliable, fuel-secure power across the 13-state @pjminterconnect grid.
America’s Power applauds the Trump Administration and Gov. Shapiro for recognizing the need to keep fuel-secure generation online and for promoting key environmental upgrades.

.@SecretaryWright explains why keeping coal plants online is critical to powering AI growth and American reindustrialization.
“During the Biden Administration… there were plans to close 100 GW of firm generating capacity… build 22, a reduction of 78 GW… we need 100 GW more of firm capacity in the next five years… so we sure don’t want to dig a hole of minus 78.”

The Iran conflict is a real-time stress test for global energy systems.
Countries reliant on LNG are scrambling. Many are turning back to coal to keep the lights on.
The U.S. has a strategic advantage. Domestic coal provides reliability, price stability, and energy security.

Last week, Utility Dive published an opinion piece from America’s Power President and CEO Michelle Bloodworth in response to an earlier op-ed that compared delaying coal plant retirements to “putting duct tape on a cracked dam.”
The original authors’ argument had several key flaws. We decided to set the record straight. You can read the full text of our rebuttal on the Utility Dive website:

Thank you to @SenCapito, Commissioner See @FERC, and @WVcoal for a great discussion at the West Virginia Coal Symposium. As demand rises and reliability risks grow, coal electricity remains an essential component of our nation’s energy mix.
West Virginia is a state that shows exactly what coal delivers: reliability and affordability.
Editors at RealClearEnergy published a powerful piece highlighting why coal remains an indispensable part of our nation’s fuel mix, citing an America’s Power study that found coal delivered cost savings during Winter Storm Fern:
“Across our largest power markets…the savings from having coal as part of the generation mix totaled almost $1.15 billion on the day the storm peaked.”
As extreme weather events and geopolitical conflicts disrupt global supply chains, domestic thermal coal will always be an affordable option for reliable electricity.

Utility Dive published America’s Power’s rebuttal to an op-ed that erroneously compares delaying coal plant retirements to “putting duct tape on a cracked dam.”
Our rebuttal highlights key facts on cost and performance that show why the op-ed is incorrect. Coal continues to outperform wind and solar across several important metrics, including affordability and reliability.

A new DLA Energy solicitation for coal-based electricity at U.S. military installations underscores that fuel-secure, always-available power is essential for mission readiness.

Winter Storm Fern pushed the grid to the brink. “The system ran very close to the edge, leaving no room for error,” said NERC CEO Jim Robb.
When Fern peaked, coal increased its output more than any other electricity source and saved ratepayers more than $1 billion.

@LeeMZeldin's op-ed in the Washington Reporter highlights EPA’s accomplishments a year after committing to reconsider more than 30 regulations.
“One year ago, we promised the end of the Green New Scam, to do our part to usher in the Golden Age of American success, lower the cost of living, and make it easier for Americans to heat their homes, purchase cars, and operate businesses. It has since been one very busy year of total follow through.”

“We also passed the largest regulation cuts in American history, ending the green new scam… We brought coal back. You're not allowed to say coal without Clean, Beautiful. Got to be Clean Beautiful.”
Speaking to the Congressional Institute in Doral, Florida, President Trump highlighted American energy production as key to affordability and economic strength. He also emphasized the essential role of “Clean Beautiful coal” alongside oil and natural gas.

Yesterday, President Trump convened tech and AI leaders to address rising energy costs.
“Coal is clean and beautiful… So many nations that are working are using coal, and you can do things with coal today that are incredible in terms of the environment and in terms of cleanliness.”
America can’t win the AI race without coal as part of the energy mix.

Energy Ventures Analysis has released Part 2 of its Winter Storm Fern report, examining how coal generation helped mitigate electricity price spikes during the storm.
The report finds that coal generation helped reduce electricity costs by nearly $1.15B on the peak demand day alone. Without coal, prices in PJM, MISO, ERCOT, and SPP would have risen between 50% and nearly double.
