Through Capital Funding, and funding arranged through the office of @MindyForMA, the department acquired a UTV. Yesterday morning the on-duty staff transitioned from wheels to tracks, to be better prepared to respond to the @TownOfAmherst during the storm.
Please keep all of the utilities and appliance vents clear at your home. Blocked vents can cause buildup of Carbon Monoxide and other gases in the home.
This week department members took part in vendor instructed training on our new Aerial Tower. Staff will now spend the next few weeks sharpening their skills on operation and deployment around the community.
A Quick and efficient response by on-duty staff today to contain and extinguish a fire that had worked itself into the crawl space under a home. A reminder not to leave wood stoves unattended.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Amherst Fire Department. Thank you to the dedicated staff who work throughout these holidays, serving the communities.
Do you see new fire trucks in the community? The department took delivery of a 2025 E-One eMax Engine and a 2025 E-One HP-100 Tower truck, both in the past 10 days. We are grateful to receive the apparatus, which have taken years to acquire.
We are receiving calls about Smoke from Canadian Wildfires causing a smell of smoke, poor air quality, and a haze in and around our community. Please only use the 911 system when active fire or a column of smoke is visibly seen.
