I had a great visit with the Shadow Chancellor, Andrew Griffith MP to Rolls Royce in Solihull learning all about how some of the most important aircraft components are made in Solihull borough with some extremely talented apprentices.
I believe in Meriden and Solihull East. I believe in our young people. I believe in Britain 🇬🇧
Andy Burnham is proving Margaret Thatcher right - How Burnham’s care service plans will weaken our society and undermine the role of family. https://t.co/pRxTve9vxH
@jamespriceglos Sneering at the creative industries isn't a great look for the centre-right! IMO they should be a pretty central part of our national push for growth
Reform in damage control now 👇 last night reform tried the Trumpian strategy of trying to undermine the organisations involved but the penny must have dropped that this is very serious.
Questions remain for Farage though, he can’t just throw everyone else under the bus and pretend he’s not in the footage.
Reform politicians are always quick to question everybody else’s patriotism - how patriotic is it to undermine the integrity of our democracy?
Not sure this is what Reform voters voted for when they placed their trust in Farage.
I’m delighted to have been reappointed as Shadow Minister of State for Education.
Education is fundamental to our children’s future, and I’m determined to continue fighting for a better and brighter future for every child and young person, whatever their background or ability.
Our priorities are clear, raising standards, supporting our teachers and schools, tackling inequality of opportunity, and ensuring children with additional needs are not left behind.
I’m particularly delighted to continue fighting for SEND families. Too many parents and children still face a system that is difficult to navigate, and I will continue to champion them and push for the support and improvements they deserve.
We must also make sure that every young person has the opportunity to succeed beyond school. That means supporting universities to deliver high-quality education and value for students and taxpayers, while expanding apprenticeships, technical education and skills pathways that lead to good careers.
We must value and invest in the different pathways that help young people reach their full potential.
Every child and young person deserves the opportunity to thrive and fulfil their potential. I’m proud to continue this fight and look forward to getting on with the job.
Farage not turning up to the count for the by-election that he called for himself really does show how much contempt he has for his own electorate.
Nobody forced him to have this by-election. His tactic clearly backfired and the fact he didn’t turn up shows he knows it.
Appalling behaviour.
Good luck for results tomorrow!!
I know you will have worked incredibly hard to get the results you need so I hope all your dreams and wishes come true.
Best of luck 🤞
Another Reform walks away.
Welcome to Cllr David Hoey, who has joined the @Conservatives in Solihull after concluding Reform was more interested in headlines than delivering for residents.
Local government is about public service, not protest politics.
🏉 FIGHTING AGAINST LABOUR’S PE FUNDING CUT 🎾
Today in Education Questions, I challenged the Government over its decision to cut PE and sport funding for schools by 22%.
At a time when the nation is gripped by the excitement of the World Cup and millions of children are taking part in sports days across the country, this is exactly the wrong message to send.
Physical activity plays a vital role in children's health, wellbeing, confidence and educational attainment. Yet the Government has chosen to push through a significant reduction in funding, with the biggest impact falling on the most disadvantaged pupils.
For many children, especially those from lower-income families, school sport provides opportunities they may not otherwise have access to. Whether it's learning to swim, joining a football team, or simply developing a lifelong love of exercise, these experiences matter.
Every child deserves the opportunity to be active, healthy and thrive. The Government should reverse this cut and ensure schools have the resources they need to deliver high-quality PE and sport for all.
Very scary situation for Muslims in Scotland - my thoughts and prayers are with those that are injured and their families.
Those that use violence and extremism, whoever they are, can never be allowed to succeed.
Increasingly, Reform aren't denying their racism anymore.
They're responding instead with a "so what?", or a "what do you expect?". And that should worry all of us.
🚨 LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, MEET CLLR GETHEN 🚨
A Reform UK councillor turning up at a Tory MP’s constituency meeting to stir trouble, only to then play the victim when challenged.
And let’s not forget — she has openly backed a fellow Reform UK councillor accused of saying Muslims should not hold political office. When quietly challenged over her support for those comments, she reportedly doubled down instead of distancing herself.
Considering this wasn’t even her constituency meeting, and there was no willingness to condemn remarks many viewed as racist and Islamophobic, asking her to leave was the entirely predictable outcome.
This is the kind of drama and division Reform UK keeps bringing into politics. 🇬🇧
Let’s break this down.
Tory MP stands up to racist who - at the meeting - refused to condemn her Councillor (she’s his group leader) who said Muslims shouldn’t hold public office.
In fact she doubled down on her support for him and his racism.
Are we really saying MPs should put up with racism in their workplace? Because that’s what people seem to be saying.
(And for those at the back, MPs are explicitly meant to hold events with their own constituents… she’s not one.)
Coward Tice switched off his replies because he too, agrees with the racism of his councillors.
