I seem to be one of the very few people that understand why sanctioning bodies charge a fee even when they belt not on the line.
WBC is paid when their champions fight. If they dont fight then the WBC dont get paid. If they allow their champions to fight in matches that dont involve them for free, then how do they make money?
Some fighters, like Shakur, might only fight once a year. If that one fight dont involve the WBC then thats a whole year without getting paid. So they charge a discounted fee to satisfy them while their champion pursues other goals. This is business.
The WBC knows their value. They know you dont make that 8-10 million without being a WBC champion. A brand that they built. Most fighters understand this and pay the fee without issue so they can keep their belt.
Once fighters reach a certain level they may say the hell with the sanctioning bodies. We dont need them anymore, which is fine. Just dont play victim. Drop the belts and move on.
We know how much Jalen Brunson and Victor Wembanyama make. We have to guess how much Shakur and Teo made.
Fighters do everything they can to prevent the public from knowing their exact purses. So why do they run to the public about fees? If yall dont want us knowing about the money then keep that same energy.
This just how I see it from the outside looking in.
@AminoBoxing Ofc there’s a fee. Point is he had already paid them for the Zepeda fight. Then he fought Teo (Had NOTHING to do with the WBC) so why would he have to pay the WBC for a fight they aren’t sanctioning?. Bud also paid all 4 sanctioning bodies but WBC asked for more money… Why?
If @JaronEnnis is able to defeat Xander Zayas later this month, he will be only the 3rd fighter campaigning at welterweight and up to unify titles across multiple divisions.
The other 2 fighters are living legends Canelo Alvarez and Oleksandr Usyk
And remember Roy loves Boots as a fighter. Even said he reminds him of himself. So this isn’t a discredit to Boots. This is a credit to how outstanding Xander Zayas is and what he’s doing for Puerto Rican🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷 🥊 Boxing 🥊
Even Roy Jones thinks this fight is 2 close to call. I believe Jaron Ennis and Xander Zayas are 2 of the top 15 fighters in the world. Best part is both are unbeaten and in their prime.
Something worth fighting for.
@AndrewMoloney has revealed that he knocked back a significant fee to step aside, which would've allowed Jesse Rodriguez an undisputed showdown against IBF titleholder Willibaldo Garcia Perez.

Ive never seen so much credit giving for saying lets do it on twitter. Both these guys been the boy that cried wolf all year. Keyshawn took the first real step to show he want the fight. Lets see what the Haneys DO
WOW: Bernie exposed how after @Realdevinhaney low-balled @ShakurStevenson with a 25% offer, Shakur went to the WBC to get the fight mandated, so that a fair purse can be given.
And that That's when Haney ran to 140 to avoid the fight

Its hard to hate on Shock. I dont have to guess were his motivations are. Im becoming more open to Shakur fight being next. Give him the chance to do something special
