If you’re a Muslim investing in the Nigerian stock market, this is the post to save.

First, the rule. Not every stock is halal. Conventional banks are screened out because their business runs on interest (riba). So are alcohol, gambling, tobacco, conventional insurance, and companies buried in interest-based debt.

So which Nigerian stocks are actually halal? The NGX has a Lotus Islamic Index, screened by a Sharia board. As of now, it holds:

1. Dangote Cement
2. BUA Cement
3. BUA Foods
4. Lafarge Africa
5. MTN Nigeria
6. Okomu Oil
7. Presco
8. Aradel Holdings
9. NASCON
10. Chemical and Allied Products (CAP)
11. NAHCO
12. Jaiz Bank (the non-interest bank)

Notice the spread. Cement, food, telecoms, agriculture, energy. Real businesses built on trade, not interest.

And if you don’t want to pick one by one, there’s a Lotus Halal ETF that holds all of them in a single buy.

One thing. The list is reviewed regularly, so a stock can move in or out. Always confirm before you buy.

Halal and wealth were never enemies. You just had to know the rules.

Hanyoyi Huɗu (4) da ake samun kuɗi daga rike Stocks/Shares (Hannun Jari)

1️⃣ Capital Gains

Idan ka sayi share, sai darajarsa ta ƙaru, zaka samu riba.

Misali:

Ka saka ₦100,000
Farashin share = ₦5

Za ka samu shares 20,000

Idan farashin ya tashi zuwa ₦7.5

Darajar jarinka zai koma ₦150,000

Wato ka samu ribar ₦50,000

2️⃣ Dividend

Kamfani tana iya raba wani kaso na ribarta ga masu rike da shares.

Ana yin wannan:

• Sau ɗaya a shekara
• Ko a quarter (wata uku)

Idan kana rike da shares kamar MTN, JAIZ, BUACEMEN, DANGOTECEM zaka rika samun wannan kudin.

3️⃣ Bonus Shares

A wasu lokuta, kamfani tana bada shares kyauta ga masu rike da shares ɗinsu, doriya akan dividend.

Misali:

NAHCO ta bada 1 for 7 Bonus

Idan kana da shares 7, za a baka karin share 1 kyauta.

Wannan yana ƙara yawan shares ɗinka ba tare da ka ƙara kuɗi ba.

4️⃣ Rights Issue

Wato kamfani tana baka damar siyan ƙarin shares akan rangwame (discount) kafin sauran mutane.

Wannan ma babbar hanyar wealth building ce a NGX misali shi ne Dangote Sugar.
