@realdocspeaks Yes I agree. I know Epic is really designed for billing not medicine. But I wonder how did hospitals run before? I am curious if there is any software you would say doctors actually want to use? Like how did you order\review lab results before?
@healthbjk @MayaBerLerner And it's really not just about IT approval. To implement an enterprise solution at scale, you need to invest resources, train providers etc. So I understand why it doesn't always make sense to implement a niche app that is loved by a small subset of providers.
@healthbjk @MayaBerLerner So if we all agree it is really not about HIPPA, my thought is the reason most these apps fail is because they fail to deliver significant value the will compel the docs&business people to push on IT. I think companies that did succeed like Vim providered enough value.
@MayaBerLerner @healthbjk I am curious does the head of IT really have a valid reason to deny screenscraping or smart-on-fhir? Are they really not HIPPA compliant?
Or it dies eventually because the approval process is dead slow.
First time seeing this term 'Elder Tech'. I think it is wonderful. Not only a huge business opportunity but actually a great business that will help some of the people we love most in the world. Miss my grandmother ❤️

A patient’s prior authorization not approved for a child’s pain medications. So, I tell the pharmacist “Just fill it, I’ll pay for it”.
“Sorry, we can’t do that”
This is still America in 2021.

Attended a very insightful HL7 webinar yesterday. Lots of work ahead to implement ONC’s Cures Act Final Rule.
API technology along with HL7 FHIR standards, will transform the healthcare information exchange landscape.
Thoughts?
