Met with the H.E. Christopher Tufton, Health Minister of Jamaica today in New Delhi. We shared a warm conversation about our nations' historical ties, with a special focus on the 180th anniversary of Indians' arrival in Jamaica.

I was pleased to learn that 60-70% of medicines in Jamaica are sourced from India and deeply appreciated their kind words about our COVID support. We also discussed the MoU on healthcare cooperation, focusing on specialized training, recognition of the Indian Pharmacopoeia, and recruitment of skilled Indian professionals.

Looking forward to strengthening our bilateral relations and enhancing collaboration in healthcare for mutual benefit.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shri @JPNadda highlighted the government's focus on enhancing cancer care accessibility in rural India. Key initiatives include prioritizing screening, leveraging telemedicine through a hub-and-spoke model, and training community health officers for early detection.

This approach facilitates timely connection to district, state, and national hospitals, minimizing treatment delays. Notably, a LANCET study indicates a 90% rise in timely cancer treatment initiation, underscoring the effectiveness of these comprehensive screening and referral strategies.
