...And here is my life story (well, at least the academic/professional side of it) in ~1700 words or less! My essay, the first in a 4-part series on "#AltAc" careers in #UniversityLibraries, is now live on the #AsiaNow blog. https://t.co/R6tw1D2OFh Thank you @AASAsianStudies.
@agujeta I just wrote a much belated post, attributing you as the amazing source of info about one of our original sketches by Tezuka Osamu. I wanted to let you know - and thank you personally. Please contact me if you have suggestions or concerns 🤩🌟🙏 https://t.co/0dIIHAw7Qw
Thanks @NCCJapanInfo and @paularcurtis for helping us spread the word! We have plans to keep building this dashboard (specifically, its list of collections) in the coming year!
Today's #NCCShowcase is a new pub in East Asian Publishing & Society by @AmldavisAnn, Kathi Matsuura, & Yukari Sugiyama on distinctive collections! "The Notable Japanese Collections Dashboard Project: Unexpected Treasures & Opportunities for Collaboration" https://t.co/C1ItHeRBp4
Today’s #NCCShowcase is videos on digitizing these 1920s watercolor handscrolls of the historic Tōkaidō stations! @AmldavisAnn collaborated with the @OSULibrary Preservation & Digitization team to repair & digitize them, making them available to anyone! 😮 https://t.co/WyZ4NbQKj2
For reference, my own version of an ArcGIS Story map of these limited edition manga scrolls, held @CartoonLibrary@OSULibrary, which I created in 2020 can be found here: https://t.co/TyBfO0hLhM
Just stumbled onto this superb StoryMap featuring the Manga Picture Scrolls of the 53 Stations of the Tokaido, a set of watercolors from the Tokyo Manga Association (1921): https://t.co/oBqtIKvUOa. Very Impressed.
Okay folks~ I'm gonna try to make this transition (or might I say, my "hybrid transition") to #bsky, where I currently have zero followers💥🔥 Hope to see you there~ My new handle is @amldavisann.bsky.social

I had the great honor today to moderate "Timeless Treasures: Exploring Egypt’s Rich Tapestry w Rare Books and Spec Coll Library" @Mado12543251, organized by Prof. Magda El-Sherbini, Mid East & Islamic Stud Lib @OSULibrary, a truly phenomenal & innovative showcase in Area Studies!
@Ishikawa_FL@CambridgeUP I'm especially interested because in my current research project, I'm puzzling out how family law was adjudicated in Japan-occupied Dairen, especially depending on one's nationality. E.g., how an ethnic Korean family there had to settle issues of (Il)legitimacy for their children
@DrJessamynAbel Oh, yes, How could I forget. I used to assign that one myself back in the day! (This query is for a high school teacher teaching world history.) Thanks again!
Hive mind question for Japan scholars: Can anyone recommend a history book on modern Japan, written originally in Japanese, and translated into English, that could be used in a general history course for intro (college) or AP History students? Inquiring for a friend ~ 🙏
