في ذكرى مرور نصف قرن على اندلاع الحروب الأهلية اللبنانية، من الواجب—لا من باب التقديس—أن نستذكر نضالات طائفة من المناضلين في سبيل التذكّر ومواجهة النسيان.
أذكر منهم، على سبيل المثال لا الحصر، الأعزاء: وداد حلواني وأهالي المفقودين، زياد صعب، أسعد شفتري، المحاربين من أجل السلام، العزيز الراحل لقمان سليم، العزيزة مونيكا، مؤسسة أمم، والمئات من ناشطي الذاكرة والجمعيات التي ترفض طمر الماضي في مزبلة الدواوين السياسية اللبنانية.
خمسون عامًا من النضال لبناء وطن يليق بنا.

Fifty years since the outbreak of Lebanon’s civil wars, it is a duty—not an act of sanctification—to honor the struggles of those who have fought to remember and resist collective amnesia.
Among them, and by no means all, I recall with deep respect: Wadad Halwani and the Families of the Missing, Ziad Saab, Assaad Chaftari, Fighters for Peace, the beloved and brilliant late Lokman Slim, the dedicated Monika Borgmann, UMAM Documentation and Research, and the countless activists and memory initiatives that have refused to let Lebanon’s past be buried in the trash heap of political salons.
Fifty years of struggle—for a country worthy of its people.
