Tennessee’s attempted, but botched, execution of Christa Pike was an extreme display of cruelty and the latest reminder that the death penalty is the ultimate cruel, inhuman, and degrading punishment. Gov. Lee must grant all those on death row clemency and commute their sentences. https://t.co/lhUvS3OcV5
“If u want to study medicine now,
you’re wasting ur life away.”
56% of the world's population (4.6 billion people) lack full access to essential health services (WHO) & World Bank.
Dr Olumide Emmanuel does not have the medical credentials, to tell people not to study medicine.
A very sad story, and sadly not the first time Ahmad has offended.
“A doctor sexually harassed by a colleague who has since been struck off the medical register says she has lost all faith in the NHS.”

@BirthTrauma@masic_uk And I see lots of women and babies whose lives have been saved by these interventions, so we can agree to disagree. I’m not sure what help it is to women to scaremonger about a treatment that is generally safe and effective
We overuse the blue nitrile gloves enormously. (I reckon at least 90% of the gloves we use are unnecessary). Standard contact with patients does NOT require gloves and probably increases infection transmission.
They get everywhere in our environment
@BirthTrauma The underlying mechanism is also likely to result in a difficult CS which has all the same risks for mother and baby and potentially worse long term consequences. The retrospective analysis is unhelpful - one way to avoid birth complications is to deliver everyone by CS at 37w 🤷🏾♀️
@BirthTrauma Would also be helpful if you understood the potential harms of a fully dilated caesarean - which is ultimately the decision that needs to be made. No one offers an instrumental birth lightly.
I can never understand why some
People will sit down in one office far away from the hospital and be dictating how doctors should manage patients just because the said patients are registered under your HMO.
I sent a patient being evaluated for enteric fever to get a code approval for stool MCS and the HMO replied that I should treat the patient without investigation. This has happened so many times.
There was a time I requested for various investigations to screen for secondary causes of hypertension in a 19-year-old with stage 2 hypertension and these people replied that the investigations were irrelevant. Irrelevant? Who exactly are the people making these decisions?
Is this how we will continue to practice medicine in this country?

Today marks 5 years since the murder of Sabina Nessa. Our thoughts are with Sabina’s family and friends during this difficult time.
This is a dark day in our borough's history and serves as a reminder of the work we must all do to end male violence against women.
Days after a San Antonio emergency room sent Tierra Walker home with a diagnosis of pre-eclampsia in 2024, her teenage son found her dead. Her fam is now suing @KenPaxtonTX et al arguing that her death was a result of the state’s ban on abortions.

Basically this is nuts.
GPs train for medical school, postgraduate education, further exams, then ongoing forever learning. We learn how to distinguish between common causes and rare ones. It is ferociously hard. This sort of nonsense degrades expertise and safety: :
A story from being on call years ago. A patient was referred to me as Med Reg by AE as being unable to go home. The pt had learning difficulties and needed an assessment by PT/OT which was not going to happen until morning - that was the referral. 1/
