Breaking news:
If the governors @KenyaGovernors fail to absorb UHC staff to PnP terms, the national government @MOH_Kenya will deploy them to national referral hospitals and absorb them to PnP terms.
Cc: @scherargei, @HonAdenDuale
The National Government, through the Ministry of Health and in collaboration with county governments, has committed to absorb more than 7,500 health workers, originally contracted during the COVID-19 response, into permanent and pensionable terms.
This step is meant to secure the livelihoods of frontline professionals while strengthening Kenya's healthcare workforce, a critical pillar in the journey towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
President Ruto announces that effective this month UHC staff should be paid as per the SRC guidelines and urges counties to work with the ministry of health to transition them to permanent and pensionable terms.
Thank you H.E Dr William Samoei Ruto for confirmation that all UHC Staff shall be transitioned into permanent and pensionable terms from this month to ensure they get value for their sacrifice since Covid-19 Pandemic era.

Blessed evening.
PNP for UHC Staff is presidential and parliament directive.
Our super CS @HonAdenDuale will do the right thing: #PNPforUHC.
If some rogue Governors want to play power control, then they should face the president directly, NOT US!
If they want more money, that is NOT ON US.
YOU ARE HIRED!
we are in September.
We want PNP from the PNP Money allocated by Parliament.
If that's Not happening, we want the stakeholders appearing before the Parliament for Q&A.
PNP IS OUR BARE MINIMUM!
*KNUMLO BLASTS THE COUNCIL OF GOVERNORS FOR THEIR CONTINUED BETRAYAL OF HEALTHCARE WORKERS*
The Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratory Officers (KNUMLO) condemns in the strongest terms the reckless and hostile statement issued by the Council of Governors (CoG) yesterday regarding UHC workers.
For years, the CoG has treated healthcare workers with open hostility. Yesterday, they dropped all pretenses and declared their contempt in broad daylight. This is not leadership—it is betrayal.
UHC workers have carried this nation on their shoulders. They stood firm when Kenya was in darkness. They kept hospitals running when others failed. They sacrificed their lives during the toughest days of the pandemic. Yet, instead of gratitude, Governors offer nothing but insults and schemes to keep them enslaved on exploitative contracts.
It is laughable and hypocritical that the very same Governors who REFUSED to request budgetary allocations through DORA, and who abandoned UHC workers to endless years of uncertainty, have now suddenly “discovered” DORA as a solution. This is not only hypocrisy—it is a blatant show of bad faith and political deceit.
KNUMLO REJECTS, in totality, the CoG’s push for continued contracts. We demand nothing less than the immediate conversion of all UHC workers to permanent and pensionable terms effective 1st September 2025, in line with the directive of the Ministry of Health. Anything short of this is an insult we shall not tolerate.
Even worse, Governors who cannot pay salaries for three straight months have the shameless audacity to accuse Unions of “high-handedness.” This is the highest form of treachery. Under their watch, healthcare workers have been reduced to beggars, salaries have been withheld, and rights trampled upon.
We remind Kenyans of recent crimes against healthcare workers:
In Kirinyaga County, the Governor illegally dismissed workers and continues to spit on court orders for their reinstatement.
In Kiambu County, the Governor openly declared war on Unions, directing his officers to sabotage statutory union deductions—an outright violation of the Constitution.
These are not leaders; they are oppressors. Their arrogance, impunity, and disregard for the Constitution have made counties hostile grounds for healthcare workers.
As KNUMLO, we will not sit back. We will not be intimidated. We will not negotiate the dignity of our members. We shall use every weapon at our disposal—industrial action, legal battles, and mass mobilization—to crush this betrayal.
Let it be clear: Healthcare workers are not slaves of Governors. The era of intimidation and bad faith is over. The struggle for dignity, fairness, and justice will be fought to the very end, and KNUMLO will lead from the front.
