The term “Ponzi scheme” was named after a man called Charles Ponzi, the OG fraudster who defrauded America in 1919.

Over a century ago, Charles promised investors 50% profit in 45 days or 100% in 90 days by “investing” in international postal reply coupons (whatever that even means today). But in reality, he was paying old investors with money from new ones. No actual business. No real product. Just smoke.

People were getting paid, so they brought their friends and families. Until… the money stopped flowing, and the whole scheme collapsed. Thousands lost everything.

An everlasting fraudulent business model was born.

Now: CBEX.

Another flashy, sweet-talking platform promising “guaranteed returns,” 100% profits in one month, and passive income through AI trading. The interface looked legit. There were fake testimonials, flashy dashboards showing imaginary profits, and… the golden rule: “Invite your friends and earn more!”

Sounds familiar.

Like Prey to Predator, like Charles Ponzi’s house of cards, CBEX has now crashed.

Here’s the thing: Scams don’t wear the same clothes anymore. They come dressed in crypto, forex, AI, or “automated trading” buzzwords. But at the core, it’s still the same Ponzi game.

So what can you learn from this?

Always remember Charles Ponzi and you will easlily recognize his sons.
