What you see here are the scars of a fire explosion that left Pierre Kuma with burns covering 39% of his body.
He was wearing only a T-shirt and shorts when the accident happened, so every exposed part of his body including his face was severely burnt. Despite the ordeal, he jokes that he became a “pure half-cast” (“halfco”).
To aid his recovery, surgeons harvested skin from his upper thighs and grafted it onto his arms and legs.
