โDid you know that iPads & iPhones ๐ฑ have built-in functions that can help patients with #aphasia โYou can find them in Settings > General > Accessibility #slp2b#SLPeeps For eg. Sometimes just โฌ๏ธ INCREASING FONT SIZE can make the BIGGEST difference ๐ก๐ก
Using features like Zoom's closed captioning can help make live events more accessible for people with aphasia. However, it's important to note that this feature is not perfect! #EauCLamarAphasia
First time using zooms closed caption feature today in NETA art group. It worked well. Itโs a good way of writing key words/ short sentences to support understanding in conversations. Find it in zooโs too bar #aphasia#accessibility
We offer daily Zoom calls for free w/our partnership w/@Lingraphica & our amazing volunteer team. Do you have pts that need to connect w/others? It's SO GOOD for their well being! โค๏ธ #ConnectionMatters https://t.co/iHlGMlC8aw #aphasia#SLP#EndTheIsolation
ARC (Aphasia Recovery Connection) is an aphasia community that offers support and aphasia friendly meetings in a variety of fun and meaningful settings. #eauclamaraphasia
Aphasia Community Partners Program pairs volunteers with a person with aphasia (PWA) and trains the volunteers to communicate using the PWA's preferred communication method. They then go do various activities together, providing opportunities for social bonding. #eauclamaraphasia

Sometimes stroke recovery doesn't go as planned or hoped. This emphasizes the need for clear, functional, achievable goals. Even so it's hard to predict exactly how recovery will go.
Following discharge from the hospital, stroke survivors may be eligible for different types of ongoing rehabilitation. Here's a little more information about outpatient rehab: https://t.co/8kPzurZDfP

SLPs should continue to provide therapy to people with aphasia for as long as possible despite the popular myth that people with aphasia "plateau" around a year post-stroke. Improvements can still be made in therapy, even if it takes more effort. #EauCLamarAphasia
#aphasiatherapy can involve learning total communication strategies. Love how the therapist included pictures to support comprehension. #eauclamaraphasia @mallorycrowe
What does #aphasiatherapy look like? EVA Park is a virtual therapy room designed for people with aphasia. It includes many different settings for functional communication. How cool is this? #eauclamaraphasia @mallorycrowe
These are the #aphasia therapy interventions that can be implemented in #EVAPark:
Functional conversation, Mapping Therapy, Functional Scripts, Group interventions, VNeST, Cued Naming and Semantic Feature Analysis.

Alice's app of the week is Naming Therapy by @TactusTherapy.
"The app helps people with #aphasia to develop naming and descriptive skills through interactive games. I particularly like that it helps the user to really engage by selecting their favourite topics."

"Verbal communication, speaking and interpreting, is so vital to being human that many assume when one loses that ability one loses his mind. His mind is still churning, probably working overtime. It's his brain that's been bashed." - Helen Harlan Wulf
