On the night of 01.07.2026, Customs officers at SGRDJI Airport intercepted a male passenger arriving from Melbourne via Kuala Lumpur by Flight No. MH 118. A detailed examination, including X-ray scanning and personal search, led to the recovery of 484 grams of 24 Carat gold in the form of two bangles and one chain, valued at ₹70,66,400/-. The recovered gold has been seized, and the passenger has been arrested under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.
On 23.06.2026 night, Customs officers at SGRDJI Airport intercepted a lady passenger arriving from Sharjah by Flight No. IX 138. Upon detailed examination, including X-ray scanning and personal search, a total of 114 grams of gold (Gross weight) in paste form was recovered. After extraction, the net weight of gold was found to be 90.21 grams, valued at ₹13,26,087/-
On 19.06.2026 night, a joint operation was conducted by the (DRI), Amritsar, and Customs officers at SGRDJI Airport. A passenger arriving from Sharjah by Flight No. 6E1428 was intercepted. Upon detailed examination, including X-ray scanning and personal search, a total of 174 grams of gold (gross weight) in paste form was recovered. After extraction, the net weight of gold was found to be 150.04 grams, valued at ₹22,05,588/-.

A passenger traveling from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar, to Kuala Lumpur on Malaysia Airlines Flight MH-119 was intercepted. During detailed examination, including personal search and baggage inspection, Customs officials recovered 1,676 grams of 24-karat gold concealed in the form of a kada and a biscuit valued to Rs. 2.58 Crore. The gold was seized under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, and the passenger was placed under arrest.
On specific Intelligence from DRI, the officers from SGRDJ International Airport, Customs Amritsar intercepted One passenger coming from Bangkok on 09/10.05.2026 via Thai Lion Air Flight No. SL 214. Detailed examination following X-ray of his baggage resulted in recovery of 5176 Grams of Hydroponic Weed (Ganja) valued at Rs. 5.176 Crore which were seized in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 and the passenger was placed under arrest.
On the basis of APIS profiling, a passenger arriving from Cambodia via Kuala Lumpur on 06/07.05.2026 by Flight No. MH-118 was intercepted by officers of the Customs, Amritsar. A detailed examination, following X-ray screening of his baggage, led to the recovery of tablets weighing 25.25 Kgs, suspected to be Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), a narcotic drug and psychotropic substance. The tablets, concealed inside four soft toys, were seized in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985 and the Pax was arrested.

Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate, DRI, and NCB Amritsar today incinerated narcotics worth ₹80 crore, including 63.187 kg Hydroponic Weed, 1.9 kg Hashish, 254 gm Heroin, 32.96 kg yellow paper soaked in heroin and 278.321 kg Ganja in strict compliance with environmental norms.
On the basis of APIS profiling of a Pax and screening of his baggage, Customs Amritsar had seized 964 Grams of Ganja concealed in 04 food/sweets boxes valued at Rs. 0.96 Crore on 06.04.2026 who had arrived & arrested at SGRDJI Airport from Bangkok via Flight No. SL-214
In a continued drive against smuggling, Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate, Amritsar today destroyed 4,02,800 sticks of seized foreign-origin cigarettes, of ₹67.83 lakhs, through incineration strictly in accordance with prescribed rules and environmental regulations.
