In Japan, I sat down with a doctor who specializes in gene therapy and practices pediatric oncology. When I asked him why he got involved in questioning the COVID response, he said: "Because my specialty is gene therapy. This is gene therapy. And gene therapy is very difficult."

He knew the technology. He works with it on children fighting cancer. He understands what it takes to get it right, and what happens when you don't. When I asked him whether it seemed crazy to roll this out for everybody, he said yeah. Especially AstraZeneca, which he described as perfectly identical to the gene therapy protocols he uses in his own practice.

My dear friend Dick Parry died this morning.

Since I was seventeen, I have played in bands with Dick on saxophone, including Pink Floyd.

His feel and tone make his saxophone playing unmistakable, a signature of enormous beauty that is known to millions and is such a big part of songs such as Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, Us and Them and Money.

He played in the last band I had that included Rick Wright for the On An Island Tour and at Live 8 with Pink Floyd.

Here are some pictures of him, including one of him and me playing for the ABC Minors at the Victoria Cinema in Cambridge in 1963.

Boer: "Het gaat terug. Er is een verschil tussen iets dat ergens naartoe gaat en iets dat teruggaat. Je hebt een cirkel beschreven en je bent er bang voor."
Activist: "Hou dan gewoon geen koe."
Boer: "Het gras sterft nog steeds in de herfst. Het rot waar het valt. De koolstof gaat hoe dan ook terug de lucht in, alleen zonder dat iemand ertussen door gevoed wordt."
Activist: "Het is niet zo simpel."
Boer: "Het is gras, koe, adem, gras. Of het is gras, rot, lucht, gras. Dezelfde cirkel, minder diners. Als dat ingewikkeld voor je is, zou ik wegblijven bij de watercyclus. Daarin zitten wolken."
