Today, we announced that @union_build will be the first interop protocol to also have its BTC LST product. Let me quickly explain what this means and why you should be excited:

Most Bitcoin LSTs today are constrained by centralized custody, limited cross-chain support, and minimal DeFi integration. As a result, they struggle with adoption and sustainable yield generation, often relying on interop protocols like Union to unlock utility across ecosystems.

Given Union’s current role in transferring assets, including Bitcoin LSTs, it actually started to make more sense for us to issue our own LST natively on our chain, with full control over its custody and distribution. This allows us to build a composable and verifiable LST that works seamlessly across Ethereum, Cosmos and more.

This is a major step toward Union becoming the first interop protocol to also become an asset issuer. Unlike other interop providers without a chain, Union itself is a full Layer-1 backed by 128 validators. This makes us extremely nimble when it comes to expanding our use cases beyond just message passing / relaying.

What this also means is:
✅ Revenue for Union protocol / foundation
✅ Union becoming a TVL provider to L1s
✅ Union being the direct poc to LPs, liquid funds, HNWIs, miners
✅ A product that even Bitcoin treasury companies can use to generate their BTC yield

This is just the beginning. We’ll continue to leverage the Union network to incubate more use cases and applications.
