@francoisfleuret I think both outcomes are harmful, but one could say that distrust in media is already there whithout the deepfakes. Much less is needed to steer the minds of general public in desired direction (sadly the direction is usually a cliff of some idealistic extreme)

I wonder how likely it is that #Tesla or one of its proxies (#Elonmusk) is responsible for yesterdays #BTC price increase, since Tesla also had its Q2 earnings report yesterday. Being that they still hold quite some BTC they could announce prettier numbers if it suddenly rose.

As I see it they are mostly here because big institutional money wants in the game. An they will make sure that only "lawyered up" institutions enjoy "legal" backdors to the market.
@genesisblock101@benjamincowen Islands of power will always form whether it be with miners or stakeholders. The ones who start early and persist will be have various degrees of centralization forming around them.
@genesisblock101@benjamincowen Every fully decentralized system will have speed issues. And you cant really say for any of the ledgers that they are decentralized. This is mostly a marketing pitch at this point because it was the strongest pro crypto sentiment at the early stages of addoption
