“It is unserious to prioritize the old over the young. To shut down schools for two years in the name of safety. Sacrificing the needs of children for the neurosis of adults.” Preach. 🙌🏻 https://t.co/C186YcxyGg
I volunteered in my kid’s classroom this week. I saw…Kids having a hard time hearing each other. Kids missing social cues resulting in tears. Kids taking their masks down to be heard or to be seen. Kids not wearing masks properly. It’s time to ditch them.
"Respirators/ other high-quality masks are highly effective at protecting their wearers, regardless of what people around them are doing ('my mask protects you and your mask protects me’ is obsolete). Allows for masks optional for students & staff

Really good. I’m so grateful my children have been in school during the omicron surge. They need the routine and normalcy. I do think work needs to be done on school staffing. The private sector has an opportunity to show up to keep schools open.
@bettybetty700 I am aware of adults who have made unvaccinated children sit far away from them, had children raise hands to show vax status, shamed young kids for not wearing their mask correctly, judged kids for not switching to N95s…and so on. These adults are self-righteous bullies.
How can we get more Bettys in this world? There are too many adult bullies shaming and allowing kids to bully over vax status and masking (now the TYPE of mask worn 🤯). Just stop. The kids have had enough and the adults need to grow up.
This is so infuriating. This hurts women who take on the overwhelming majority of childrearing tasks. Most employers don't offer back-up-childcare and even when they do, it's not easily accessible. Testing symptomatic kids so they can stay seems reasonable.
I do not undersatnd how policymakers can read this, or anything else that has been written on this topic in the last few days, and not try to help. Test to stay for child care? Where is the CDC?

Celebrating a week where my kids were in school 5-days. I'm grateful to the staff and admins for the nuanced approach from our district rather than jumping on the school closure bandwagon. It likely hasn't been easy and credit deserved where credit's due.
It would be foolish to argue that the wide-spread mental health issues that pandemic teens are experiencing isn’t related to lockdowns and closed schools. #keepschoolsopen
This got me. These are not anecdotes. It’s happening in your neighborhood and mine. Kids do not have unlimited reserves of resilience. #keepschoolsopen
