Returned from Washington, D.C. with renewed momentum!
Alongside the Association of IL Area Agencies on Aging, we elevated key issues for older adults and caregivers on Capitol Hill.
Thank you to all the congressional offices for meeting with us—your partnership matters!
Thank you, Duana!
At this week’s @SenateAging hearing, USAging President Duana Patton championed the Aging Network and urged Congress to reauthorize the #OlderAmericansAct —critical to helping millions of older adults age well.
“With the help of our local Area Agency on Aging, we accessed services under the Older Americans Act (OAA), which have made a world of difference to my dad’s quality of life.”
#ENDALZ volunteer Erick Montealegre testifies in front of the @SenateAging & @SenateAgingDems to urge Congress to reauthorize the bipartisan #OlderAmericansAct.
The OAA provides support to America's seniors in their homes and communities by organizing and delivering nutritional programs, in-home services, transportation, legal services elder-abuse prevention and caregiver support.
Erick and his siblings care for their father Alberto, who is living with mild cognitive impairment and joins his son today on Capitol Hill.
The adult day center Alberto attends, thanks to the OAA, has been a lifeline for their family, providing Alberto with cognitive stimulation, physical activity, social connection and dignity and his caregivers with much-needed respite and peace of mind.
Our Chief, Public Policy & External Affairs, @AmyGotwals, spoke this morning on federal #aging policy at the 4AM (AAA Association in Michigan) conference!

Congress must act now! Millions of #OlderAdults and #caregivers depend on the critical services funded by the #OlderAmericansAct. Congress, don’t go home until you deliver for those who need it most!
