A 13-year-old San Jose boy was found guilty of murdering a 15-year-old boy while the victim was on a Valentine’s Day date with his girlfriend at Santana Row.

The victim was David Gutierrez, a Sequoia High School student who lived in Redwood City. He was stabbed through the heart.

Crawling along the Bay Area’s traffic-clogged highways is grueling, and the urge to cheat by driving solo in a carpool lane can be tempting. Multiple drivers were busted by CHP officers this May for trying to “beat the system” with life-sized passenger decoys and mannequins, the CHP said.
One solo driver in the East Bay had a "partner" to justify their FasTrak Flex being set to claim multiple occupants. “Their partner lacked one important detail … a face," the CHP wrote.

Detectives served a search warrant at a home today as part of an effort to find the body of Kristin Smart. The house belongs to Susan Flores, the mom of Smart’s murderer.
Smart, 19, was a Cal Poly freshman in 1996 when she was slain in a dorm room.

A sea lion named “Chonkers” is spending this spring sitting on the dock of Pier 39 in San Francisco.
Today he was spotted by KRON4 News reporter @JoeyHorta .
Chonkers’ enormous size stands out from other sea lions sunbathing on the pier’s K-Dock. He is a Steller sea lion, which is a larger-sized species than his California sea lion counterparts.
