You know you’ve got a great new series on your hands when the first student who borrowed Dungeon Club: Roll Call by @MollyOstertag comes back to the library the next day asking for Book 2! Thanks for the recommendation @irondogbooks!
Inspired by the beautiful sunlight coming into the library @uhe_sd41 this morning, our provocation in story workshop this morning was “What stories live in the light and shadows?” #storyworkshop#storystudio@burnabyschools
Such a fantastic end to the day with @ivancoyote! “Books are magic, stories are sacred, so libraries full of books and stories are magic and sacred.” Couldn’t agree more! #BCTLA
Story workshop is up and running @uhe_sd41! Division 11, 12 & 18 are exploring what stories live in the loose parts and finding characters, settings, problems & solutions! #storytelling
I read “Ravi’s Roar” by @tompercivalsays with the Grade 1-3 classes today. We had some great conversations about what makes us feel angry, and how we can channel anger to stand up for ourselves or others. #SEL#zonesofregulation
Happy #IndigenousPeoplesDay! Thanks @owlkids and @GoodMindsBooks for publishing such a respectful and joyful issue about the Haida nation. We will be reading it at my house today to celebrate! 🧡
@tlwestridge@EricRWalters It’s definitely a good candidate. That or “No Fixed Address” by Susan Nielsen if it’s in paperback by then. Similar themes and both would be very eye opening for some students!
I just finished “The King of Jam Sandwiches” by @EricRWalters and can see why it won the #ggbooks award. Such a powerful story of resilience, I will most definitely be recommending this one to students next year!
@nicolecwilson@brentwoodSD41 I loved the poem written by a student that you shared with me today! Such a beautiful reflection on history and the path forward.
Thao the author talks about THAO the book, and the importance of learning people's names, for @CBCKids Book Club! 📚 @thaolamdraws

Based on ancient Haida narratives, our next recommended read celebrates Indigenous identity and culture ➡️ MAGICAL BEINGS OF HAIDA GWAII by Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson and Sara Florence Davidson. Illustrated by Alyssa Koski and Judy Hilgemann #TDSRC#IndigenousHistoryMonth
