Story I learned last night:
I started Girl Scouts in first grade and was an active scout until I was 17 (12th grade)—did ALL the GS stuff and loved my scouting experience. I was a GS national delegate.
My troop, 1001, was in Detroit and almost all black.
When teachers get their funds cut. They deal with it. They buy books out of pocket to fund their students. They have families to feed too. What about them? Yall have 54% of the budget and can’t share? They’re more outraged at proposed cuts than the brutality in their own dept.
Remember black lives matter not only when it comes to police brutality but in every aspect of society. BLM in the education system where schools receive insufficient funding. BLM in the health care system where too often black ppl, especially black women, receive improper care.
1 in 13 black americans that have lost their right to vote due to felony convictions as part of systemic racism in the justice system. so before you say to “take your anger to the voting booth” just know not everyone has a voice there.
cuomo just asked when was the last time you saw the american military deployed against american citizens. burnett says 1807.
lets try wounded knee in 73 and and standing rock in 2016.
