@PatLaprade@TheHockeyNewsW It's so sad that they get so little for winning the cup. The league could make some more money by having the team stores the same in both countries. As a Victoire fan living in the US, I'm bummed that there is so much more offered in Canada for them.
๐ 46 years ago today, Mount St. Helens forever changed the Pacific Northwest โ and the science of volcano monitoring.
After more than a century of quiet, earthquakes and rising magma signaled that pressure was building beneath the volcano in the spring of 1980. On the morning of May 18, the mountainโs north flank collapsed in a massive landslide, triggering a devastating lateral blast that flattened 230 square miles of forest.
Ash rose high into the atmosphere and drifted across the U.S, while volcanic mudflows, known as lahars, surged through nearby valleys to the Columbia River. Fifty-seven people lost their lives, including USGS volcanologist David A. Johnston.
When the eruption ended, Mount St. Helens stood nearly 1,300 feet shorter than before. The eruption transformed not only the landscape, but also how scientists monitor and prepare for volcanic hazards around the world.

@_MelissaBurgess I played in a women's hockey tournament in Vegas this year, and you could see how the area embraces all hockey. The locals are super into their sports teams and will 100% get behind PWHL
@Justtheinitials As much as I wish Denver got a team, I actually really understand them picking Vegas. There is a rabid hockey base there now since the Knights came along. They are super supportive of women's hockey (I did a tourney there), and they have backed WNBA
@27korte I heard an interview from someone from the city of Denver after our second take over tour this year, and they said they were focusing on the Summit and didn't want to distract from building them up first
@27korte It wasn't about them owning it here. It was about space for them to play. Ball Arena has hockey, basketball, lacrosse, and concerts already. The city of Denver said they just wanted to focus on the new soccer team.
@27korte As much as I want Denver to have a team, the city wasn't ready to support it. Vegas is rolling out the red carpet for PWHL. It's a city people go on vacation to. They will advertise the crap out of the team. We need more teams in different time zones
@27korte They've had a 600% growth in women's and girls' hockey since the Golden Knights started. The Knights organization is very into supporting female hockey. We did a women's tournament there in Jan at both the Golden and Silver Knights practice facility.
