@clhubes I unironically love this book so much. It is one of my earliest memories of pouring over a book and discovering new details every time, and to my child self, it seemed completely reasonable that a mom might drive to her grown son's house in the middle of the night with a ladder!
@clhubes We moved into our house two years ago, and there is a single unpacked box in our hallway that maybe just lives there forever?? (I also have a couple of boxes in my closet that I could probably just get rid of)
@clhubes I feel the same way about all other coffee shops! I know what something is going to taste like at Starbucks but I can't guarantee that I'll like the coffee somewhere else
@SFKissinger@UrsulaV Interesting! I've never used or worked at library where it was opt-out, only sometimes opt-in, and even then staff couldn't see the history.
@clhubes Okay, I'm a "no gifts" mom, but I read something where another parent said they put five bucks in a birthday card for little kids, and I love that idea and am adopting it for all future parties
@KatWithSword @UrsulaV I did that once! I used to go for long meandering drives, and I ended up in the middle of the desert and wasn't sure where I was or how to get home
@JonS253 @ArchaeoDana @JortsTheCat Also, $45k a year assumes she can do this all year. I don't know anything about agriculture but I'm pretty sure you aren't harvesting grapes, no matter where you live, 12 months a year
@misskubelik I just picked this one up for my kiddo! They're probably too young for it, but I want my (white, male) kiddo to see a brown girl who also loves trucks, if nothing else
@misskubelik Congratulations and the offer and on making the best decision for you! Those kids are so lucky to have you and you really deserve to have a job that makes you so happy. I love reading your updates.
@larkinplarkin @Tracy_Pierceall @O_Waite Yeppppp. I have 2 under 5, and sometimes I'm like...why aren't we Doing Things? OH, RIGHT. Because both my kids can't get vaccinated and have asthma.
