Did you watch Martin Lewis Money Show Live last night?

If so you would have heard him talking about the “D’s”:- Death, Divorce and Dementia. During the show, Martin discussed the importance of ensuring your affairs are in order by preparing a Will and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

[Martin Lewis @MartinSLewis]

Many are confused about it, so here's my mini briefing on #InheritanceTax in five simple steps (obvious do more reading/get advice before acting). Feel free to share

- Anything left to a spouse (married/civil partners) is EXEMPT from IHT
- You don't pay IHT on the first £325,000 of your estate left to others
- This is boosted to £500,000 if you pass on your main residence to your (biological/foster/step/adopted) children or grandchildren.
- You can pass on any unused allowance to your spouse, so if you left them everything they could then leave £1m (your £500,000 and their £500,000) including their home to children or grandchildren.
- If an IHT bill is looking likely, gifting rules can cut or cancel it out (whether from annual income or bigger gifts if you live long enough after)

[Martin Lewis @MartinSLewis]

Unpleasant conversations: That's the main topic of @itvmlshow next week (unless news means I change).

So if you've questions on wills, power of attorney, dementia finances, inheritance tax or anything else related, do suggest it here (I'll have a specialist panel helping me).

Read my first blog for @SFELawyers about the importance of having a Will in force & what happens if you don’t! I encourage all Private Client Solicitors to become a member of SFE, the support & training opportunities offered are fantastic #SFE @WatkinsandGunn #privateclient

Do you know what happens to your estate if you die without making a will?

@SFELawyers member Amy Thomas of @WatkinsandGunn has written this article about the importance of having a valid will drawn up by a professional, specialist lawyer.

It was a well deserved win for the Welsh Feathers against Scotland 👊

They finish 9th in the world, and Scotland take 10th place.

What an amazing World Cup it's been for both teams! 🙌

The Watkins & Gunn golf team emerged victorious at the @SpoonWales charity golf day!

By playing in this fantastic event, we not only had a blast - but also helped to raise vital funds to continue their incredible work in transforming the lives of children and young people.

There are some amazing front pages out today about the latest drug Donanemab - a potential treatment for early-stage Alzheimer’s disease that has been tested in clinical trials.

[Alzheimer's Society @alzheimerssoc]

Today’s full results support what we heard about donanemab in May – the drug is able to slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease by more than 20%.

This is truly a turning point in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

We are passionate about supporting the health and wellbeing of our workforce,

Last week, we held the first of our wellbeing focus groups, led by Leanne of @kuduwellbeing to identify ways of challenging the “always on” culture as we work towards developing a Wellbeing Charter.
