For years, Haim, a Jewish band with family from Israel, refrained from commenting on Israel or antisemitism. Fair enough. I’m of the firm belief that artists don’t need to engage in identity politics/global affairs for clout. But the explosion of antisemitism recently directed at Alana Haim proves that not commenting is not enough and will not save you. You don’t need a commercial for luxury apartments in Herzliya to be a target.
Feels like we’ve crossed a threshold with “Nosh-gate”
I’ve heard from both anglophones and francophones who all seem to agree: this has gone too far.
Protecting French matters. It’s part of what makes Quebec special.
But policing “nosh” and going after “Go Habs Go” isn’t protecting a language. It’s making a mockery of the mission.
Maybe this is the moment we get back to being reasonable.
43k likes on this disgusting, antisemitic, abelist post, yet people still tell me every single day that I'm an idiot to think antisemitism still exists and could possibly be a problem.
Mark Carney is sending another $100 million — of taxpayer money — to Gaza and the West Bank.
That's more than $437 M since Oct 7.
I was worried we’d spend that money on Canadian healthcare or housing — but funding terrorism is way more logical.
Here's Mark and his new Quran!
“I remember Alghabra lobbying me to keep Hezbollah legal”, which begs the question:
Should the man who advocated for designated terror group Hezbollah—whose foundational documents & raison d’être is Israel’s destruction—be on an advisory council combating hate and antisemitism?
Remember 2 weeks ago, when Israel briefly detained a group of anti-Israel activists for trying to sail into a war zone? The news media could not stop giving them sympathetic coverage.
But here, when Libya imprisons them for almost 2 weeks, complete & total silence....
This should be one of the biggest stories in the country. Canada is short 25,000 doctors — and we’re losing some of the few we have because antisemitism is so out of control. This is insane.
The same Mayor Mamdani who says he won't join the Israel Parade because of the government, marched with a smile on his face at the Pakistan Independence Day parade.
Pakistan 🇵🇰
- Is a global transit point for human trafficking
- Sees 1000+ honor killings of women a year
- Has one of the highest rates of heroin addiction in the world
- Its army raped ~200,000-400,00 women and killed between 300,000 and 3 million people during a war with Bangladesh in 1971, in what is widely recognized as a genocide
- Multiple terror groups operate in the country and killed 100s in attacks in just the last year
None of those are reasons for individual Pakistanis to stop marching for their country; random citizens are not responsible for an entire country's failures.
But they are reasons why the Mayor's stance betrays a double standard.
Mayors are responsible for ALL of their city's residents, no matter what country they are from.
BREAKING: Partial internet has been restored to Iran, with videos finally coming out showing the extent of protests against the regime.
Millions demanded an end to the Mullahs.
Canes fans singing olé olé - you are foul. Repugnant, unsportsmanlike behaviour that says nothing about your support for your team but everything about your shitty character. #GoHabsGo
Hello @AOC, while you smiled in a hijab at a New York event, I was in Federal Court facing the 4th hitman hired by the Islamic Republic to assassinate me, for campaigning for Iranian women to have the same freedom you performed for a photo op. Will you come to court with me in August when I face the 5th hitman? Or does solidarity only work when it doesn't offend the Islamic regime?
You wore hijab voluntarily in New York. Women are killed in Iran for taking it off.
You are the very woman who, at every opportunity, protests against violence against women, decries gender segregation, and champions "inclusion." Yet here you stand, smiling and wearing a hijab, at an event in New York, in the heart of the West, where men and women are strictly separated. To me and millions of Iranian women, this does not look like a choice. It is no longer "My body, my choice," but rather "My body for votes."
They who claim to fight for women's self-determination in the name of feminism voluntarily embrace an ideology that mandates our women cover their hair simply because they are women. They enjoy the prosperity, freedom, and privileges of the Western world, where they may live as autonomous individuals , yet they simultaneously accept that other women should not be afforded the same rights.

My favorite thing about Mamdani avoiding the Israel parade is he attends the Pakistan one. Pakistan has:
-Had fraudulent elections
-Relies heavily on American military support
-Ethnically cleansing 2 million Afghans
-Has engaged in a well documented genocide
AOC went even further.
From wearing the hijab to literally kneeling and prostrating in front of the crowd at the Eid event.
This isn’t cultural respect.
This is performative art pandering on another level.
Selective feminism at its finest.
Notice how Mamdani and the other men completely ignore AOC and talk over her while she speaks.
Voluntarily choosing to wear a symbol of oppression to pander to a religion that disrespects women is not a good look.
